| reelin | Hey, I'm following the install/configuration guide - couldn't get the flask dev server working, so went with Install Apache+mod_wsgi on debian (actually on ubuntu) however, this isn't working either. There's two things I've noted - I'm attempting to use a direct IP, as I don't have DNS in this environment, which I believe changes the ara.conf file (from reading the Apache docs), but I've tried a few flavours of changes and I'm only able | 17:39 |
|---|---|---|
| reelin | Reading the /var/log/apache2/ara-error.log, it loops the following every time I try to connect from my PC. | 17:39 |
| reelin | ImportError: No module named ara.wsgi | 17:39 |
| reelin | mod_wsgi (pid=3425): Target WSGI script '/var/www/ara/ara-wsgi' cannot be loaded as Python module. | 17:40 |
| reelin | mod_wsgi (pid=3425): Exception occurred processing WSGI script '/var/www/ara/ara-wsgi'. | 17:40 |
| reelin | Traceback (most recent call last): | 17:40 |
| reelin | File "/var/www/ara/ara-wsgi", line 6, in <module> | 17:40 |
| reelin | Permissions are www-data and very generous | 17:40 |
| reelin | Be really grateful for any advice, very keen to get this running! | 17:40 |
| dmsimard|afk | reelin: heya, I'm on something right now and don't have the time to walk you through things | 17:42 |
| dmsimard|afk | reelin: but what I would recommend is to leave apache+mod_wsgi out first if you're just trying things out | 17:43 |
| dmsimard|afk | the wsgi setup is not very straightforward right now (although it will be better in the next major release) | 17:43 |
| dmsimard|afk | getting things to work *without* apache/mod_wsgi allows you to understand how the different bits work and then you can go from there | 17:43 |
| dmsimard|afk | it's actually very very simple: ara needs to be installed wherever ansible is running and ansible needs to know that it should use the ara callback. That's it. | 17:44 |
| dmsimard|afk | There's a quickstart here: https://github.com/openstack/ara#quickstart | 17:45 |
| dmsimard|afk | and then we explain a bit how the different components "talk" to each other in a FAQ that is not directly related but... https://ara.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq.html#can-ansible-with-ara-run-on-a-different-server-than-the-web-application | 17:45 |
| reelin | thanks dsmiard, I'll check into that | 17:47 |
| reelin | Yeah, same as before, as I can't connect to the dev flask instance from my box. | 17:59 |
| reelin | although a wget shows it's present. | 18:00 |
| reelin | It's not available via the IP of the server, but I just set up an SSh tunnel | 18:05 |
| reelin | looks beautiful ^^ | 18:05 |
| dmsimard|afk | reelin: maybe the flask server is listening on 127.0.0.1 ? have you tried making it listen to 0.0.0.0 ? | 18:09 |
| dmsimard|afk | reelin: I think it's like ara-manage runsrever -h 0.0.0.0 | 18:10 |
| dmsimard|afk | ara-manage runserver -h 0.0.0.0 * | 18:10 |
| dmsimard|afk | and then you might also have firewall rules etc, probably need to make sure the necessary port is opened | 18:10 |
| *** tbielawa|lunch is now known as tbielawa | 18:11 | |
| reelin | that makes senese | 18:12 |
| reelin | sense, I'll check into that in a minute, just showing someone how great this looks | 18:12 |
| reelin | no firewall walls required, just the 0.0.0.0 thanks for your help dmsimard. | 18:23 |
