kata-irc-bot2<james.o.hunt> @eric.ernst - late night or early morning? Morning anyhow :)10:12
davidgilukjames.o.hunt: I'm going to try installing your CentOS 7.6 packages on a RHEL7.6 out of interest10:16
jodhdavidgiluk: thanks! Will be interesting to know if that works. I am rather confused by OBS offering RHEL, but not a current version. Could it be a licensing issue I wonder?10:27
davidgilukjodh: I don't know, my understanding is that once you have the license you can upgrade10:29
davidgilukjodh: The other possibility is that they're purposely keeping it as an oldest so that anything produced will run on all 7.x versions;  but if it is a licensing type of thing I'd be happy to try and find someone to sort it out10:30
jodhdavidgiluk: thanks for the offer! If they are purposely keeping it at the old version, that would be inconsistent with the approach they seem to be taking for CentOS though (and indeed all the other many distros they support seemingly).10:36
davidgilukjodh: Yeh10:37
kata-irc-bot2<james.o.hunt> @mvedovati - could you possibly put davidgiluk in contact with the right people at OBS to discuss further?10:37

kata-irc-bot2<mvedovati> @james.o.hunt, davidgiluk: the reference person is adrianS on freenode #opensuse-buildservice10:40
kata-irc-bot2<james.o.hunt> Thanks @mvedovati.10:42
davidgilukyeh, agraf gave me that name as well but I hadn't asked yet10:43
kata-irc-bot2<mvedovati> davidgiluk: fyi agraf left suse some months ago10:44
davidgilukoh!10:45
davidgilukmvedovati: Do you know which time zone adrianS is in?10:46
kata-irc-bot2<niteshkonkar007> FWIW, IBM is also trying to get a RHEL ppc64le instance in OBS. Currently I see only RHEL_7 x86 instance available.10:47
kata-irc-bot2<mvedovati> davidgiluk CEST (Nurnberg)10:47
davidgilukmvedovati: OK, so approximately the same as me10:48
kata-irc-bot2<james.o.hunt> @niteshkonkar007 - that would be great. then we just need aarch64 + s390x ;) https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Build_Service_supported_build_targets10:55
davidgilukright, adrianS is going to send me some info on what exactly is needed11:07
davidgilukon the 'Manual Installation' part of 'install' it says 'Manual installation instructoions are available for these distributions and document how to' - but it doesn't actually link to where those manual instructions are12:00
davidgilukoh...I see, it's way below that, it's actually th e'supported distributions' table that has the links12:01

kata-irc-bot2<niteshkonkar007> AdrianS from OBS had informed us that if incase we are not able to get RHEL ppc64le instance in OBS, still Centos binaries can be used on RHEL as they are officially claimed to be compatible.12:54

kata-irc-bot2Action: graham.whaley resists clicking just coz I want to see what happens. It's like james.o.hunt posted a picture of a BIG RED BUTTON saying 'DO NOT PRESS' :red_circle:14:51

davidgilukis there something somewhere on how I can test changes to the packaging?  I'd like to get virtiofsd in one of the packages - in the qemu-vanilla package???15:20
kata-irc-bot2<gmmaharaj> davidgiluk: currently we are packaging nemu+ virtiofsd as part of the kata-deploy static package. https://github.com/kata-containers/runtime/releases/download/1.7.0/kata-static-1.7.0-x86_64.tar.xz15:20
kata-irc-bot2<gmmaharaj> which kata-deploy should download and put in the right places.15:21
kata-irc-bot2<gmmaharaj> https://github.com/kata-containers/documentation/blob/master/how-to/how-to-use-virtio-fs-with-kata.md15:21
kata-irc-bot2<gmmaharaj> we can package it once we start shipping the new qemu as a static binary (same way we do with NEMU today).15:23
davidgilukgmmaha: Ah OK; right I hadn't come across kata-deply15:25
