kata-irc-bot<eric.ernst> Glad to hear about your kata usage. Unrelated, but curious - do you make much changes to kata deploy?14:47
kata-irc-bot<eric.ernst> Iirc, we use the “other kernel” because we were still carrying patches for DAX portion of virtiofs. I’ll see if we can migrate these to the “standard” kata kernel so we don’t have to carry both.14:51
kata-irc-bot<eric.ernst> @simon.kaegi ^^14:51
kata-irc-bot<eric.ernst> I think rereleased containers should have all you need though; just need to update your toml14:51

kata-irc-bot<simon.kaegi> Hi Eric yes we have a couple of very small tweaks on the deploy script (support for the old school untrusted runtime and a bit safer containerd cleanup) and we also require a label in our ds nodeSelector. I'll open an issue and offer up a PR. We have a fork of kata-deploy but definitely help the original improve.15:08
kata-irc-bot<simon.kaegi> We also have our own kata-deploy image which is a little different in it does not pre-package the release and ub our set-up we have a first script that downloads the standard kata release and patches it before later calling `kata-deploy,sh install` like the standard kata-deploy DS. None of this is proprietary or even terribly interesting ;) just what we have to do for compliance. Happy to share any and all of it.15:14
kata-irc-bot<simon.kaegi> @fidencio gave me some excellent pointers that I'll try but for our needs it would be really great to use a standard 5.6.x kernel and qemu 5.x for qemu-virtio. There was even some indication that the overlayfs support had been merged into 5.6.x so looks promising. I would really like to help here on that bit if I can ;)15:17
