kata-irc-bot1<pradipta.banerjee> Is there a  howto that I can refer for running kata-2.0 from source ? The existing doc points to https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/blob/2.0-dev/docs/Developer-Guide.md#initial-setup08:04

kata-irc-bot1<eric.ernst> Hey ya'll, question on RBD setup for QEMU... :thread:16:55
kata-irc-bot1<eric.ernst> ... I see we disable for static builds, and we disable depending on RHEL version. ...16:55
*** sgarzare has quit IRC16:55
kata-irc-bot1<eric.ernst> question is, do we ever actually make use of this? It seems like a feature that would be presented to the QEMU user; and a feature which we don't actually use?  Thoughts?16:55
kata-irc-bot1<eric.ernst> @jose.carlos.venegas.m @archana.m.shinde16:56
kata-irc-bot1<eric.ernst> devimc ^16:56
kata-irc-bot1<jose.carlos.venegas.m> I am sure we dont have a use case it covers it16:56
kata-irc-bot1<jose.carlos.venegas.m> not even used as part qemu api calls16:57
devimcegernst, ant folks requested it16:57
kata-irc-bot1<jose.carlos.venegas.m> but I would ask @bergwolf if they are using it for their use cases16:57
kata-irc-bot1<eric.ernst> thanks devimc.  @bergwolf ACK?16:57

kata-irc-bot1<eric.ernst> One more: are we packaging virtiofsd now/yet for latest QEMU? It seems that we aren't. Is it only available through static binaries today?17:04

kata-irc-bot1<efoster> Quick question about shimv2 + CRI-O! Is the shim meant to continue running when the container and pod are stopped but not removed? Right now the shim is hanging around after pod stop and using quite a bit of CPU. I'm looking to either shut the shim down correctly from CRI-O (sending the Shutdown task seems to have no effect without a delete, and we can't delete the container at stage) or to fix whatever is making the shim use so much18:33
kata-irc-bot1CPU.18:33
kata-irc-bot1<efoster> I'm also going to look at how Docker is doing things, but I figured I'd ask here as well.18:34

kata-irc-bot1<efoster> Oof, it looks like the shim is spending all of its time in syscalls22:27
kata-irc-bot1<efoster> all of it is vsock stuff22:27
kata-irc-bot1<efoster> vsock connect, vsock EarlyClose22:27
kata-irc-bot1<efoster> vsock newConnFD22:28
kata-irc-bot1<efoster> I wonder if this is related? https://github.com/kata-containers/runtime/issues/191722:28
kata-irc-bot1<efoster> Ah, I think I might have it!22:56
kata-irc-bot1<efoster> I added a new method to `Sandbox` called `DisconnectAgent`22:57
kata-irc-bot1<efoster> that well, does that22:57
kata-irc-bot1<efoster> Then, I call that from the shim's `Wait` method22:58
kata-irc-bot1<efoster> Went from 100% CPU utilization to basically 0.22:58
