kata-irc-bot2 | <taimoorbhatti> Hey everyone... I wanted to know if there is a guide on how to change the Kata kernel to a version I compiled myself..? (noob here) Or, if something like that doesn't exist yet, can someone point me towards the right direction in going about it?? | 18:36 |

kata-irc-bot2 | <taimoorbhatti> I basically want to be able to change the kernel to something of my own choosing ``` $ docker run -it --runtime kata-runtime ubuntu bash root@53fb6612705f:/# uname -a Linux 53fb6612705f 4.19.28-23.container #1 SMP Thu Apr 18 00:22:49 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux root@53fb6612705f:/# ``` | 18:37 |
kata-irc-bot2 | <eric.ernst> Hey @taimoorbhatti | 19:38 |
kata-irc-bot2 | <eric.ernst> Checkout the following: https://github.com/kata-containers/packaging/tree/master/kernel | 19:39 |
kata-irc-bot2 | <taimoorbhatti> lol... Read the first headline and :man-facepalming: myself!! Thanks @eric.ernst | 19:40 |
kata-irc-bot2 | <eric.ernst> :slightly_smiling_face: No worries -- that doc is kind of burried. | 19:41 |
kata-irc-bot2 | <eric.ernst> happy building - let me know if you run into issues. | 19:41 |
kata-irc-bot2 | <taimoorbhatti> will do! thanks | 19:41 |
kata-irc-bot2 | <taimoorbhatti> @eric.ernst what's the canonical way of going about this? When I ran `./build-kernel.sh setup` it downloaded Kernel `4.19.28` and (perhaps) applied some patches. What I'm unclear about is how can I give the `build-kernel.sh` script kernel sources of my own choosing? And later, tell `kata-runtime` that this is the kernel you want to boot | 20:27 |
