nuhakalaHello, I have built opensuse leap images with disk image builder and I am wondering why it is restricted to version 15.5. I have edited the source to accept also version 15.6 and so far had no problems. I could make a change to DIB gerrit to allow also other versions, but would that be turned down immediately? Is there some good reason that I am not aware of for allowing only 15.5?04:53

bbezakfungi: thx ,it looks ok now.08:43
nuhakalaHello, I need and have built opensuse leap 15.6 with disk image builder by modifying the source code. The upstream does not allow other versions than 15.5 currently. Is there some reason for this that I am not aware of, or can I make a change proposal to gerrit to allow also other versions?09:04

funginuhakala: simply because nobody has pushed a change to review increasing it, i expect12:40
nuhakalafungi: thank you, I will push a change then12:41
funginuhakala: also note there's a #openstack-dib irc channel specifically for diskimage-builder12:53
nuhakalaOh, thanks for the information. I will ask there also12:55
fungijust realized i meant to send out a meeting agenda yesterday13:38
opendevreviewNuutti Hakala proposed openstack/diskimage-builder master: Allow openSUSE Leap version 15.6  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/diskimage-builder/+/95657713:54
*** ykarel_ is now known as ykarel14:01
Clark[m]fungi: I can send the meeting agenda in about 1.5 hours if there hasn't been one yet14:40
clarkbI don't see one so I can work on that after my first morning meeting14:56
fungii haven't yet, no, been doing other stuff and now... meetings14:58
opendevreviewMerged openstack/diskimage-builder master: Allow openSUSE Leap version 15.6  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/diskimage-builder/+/95657716:05
clarkbanything important to add to the agenda around nodepool in zuul?16:07
clarkbI feel like the old content there is no longer relevant this week. But I'm feeling like I don't know what is relevant right now16:07
clarkbI've just done a quick agenda update and will send that out if there is no other feedback at say 16:30 UTC16:08
corvusclarkb: yeah, i can't think of any niz stuff that's important to discuss; but we should talk about ansible 11, sorry i didn't think to put that in ahead of time.16:13
opendevreviewClark Boylan proposed opendev/system-config master: Upgrade Gitea to 1.24.4  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/95659116:13
clarkbcorvus: thats fine. I'll add it now. Should we drop niz from the agenda at this point or do you think it istill valuable to have a consistent discussion item even if this week is a noop?16:14
corvusi think maybe we can drop it now.16:14
corvusthe zuul work continues, of course, but i think from here it will be less impactful for opendev.  we can handle things that come up adhoc16:15
clarkbsounds good. I've just made those two edits to the agenda page but the wiki is being slow so may be a minute before they load16:16
profcorey@infra-root at your earliest convenience, could you please add me to cascade-core and cascade-release groups in gerrit16:17
fungiprofcorey: done, sorry it didn't dawn on me to do that after the deploy job ran but you should be all set now. you may need to force refresh your browser window if you had a review up you were trying to vote on, the gerrit webui does client-side caching of permissions for the presentation layer so can get out of sync with the backend api16:20
profcoreythank you @fungi! I'm just following the docs to make sure I do things correctly on my end16:24
fungiyou're welcome. also you should now have access to add other reviewers to those groups in the webiu16:25
fungiwebui16:25
profcoreyOk thank you16:25
profcoreyAs the PTL, do I need to be added to cascade-release as well16:26
fungiyes, i added you to both groups16:27
profcoreyOk thanks!16:27
fungihttps://review.opendev.org/admin/groups/cascade-release,members16:28
fricklerhmm, I neglected to review that change in time, but I thought we advised against adding new things to x/? possibly the same for new users of storyboard?16:32
clarkbagenda is sent16:33
fungifrickler: oh, yes i should have encouraged picking a new namespace for it16:35
opendevreviewJames E. Blair proposed openstack/project-config master: Do not allow new x/ namespace projects  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/project-config/+/95659216:49
fungigreat idea!16:54
opendevreviewClark Boylan proposed opendev/system-config master: Upgrade etherpad to 2.4.2  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/95659316:57
clarkbetherpad 2.4.2 includes two user facing ui updates that we'll want to test via a held node. But first step is getting it to build and pass testing16:58
opendevreviewClark Boylan proposed opendev/system-config master: DNM force etherpad failure to hold node  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/84097217:40
clarkbthe gitea 1.24.4 update lgtm (it passes existing tests and spot checking screenshots doesn't show any oddities) fungi were there outstanding updates to ghe gitea main page too?17:56
fungiclarkb: yeah, https://review.opendev.org/956268 "Link VEXXHOST donor logo to testimonial article"18:00
clarkbfungi: maybe we want to land that one then followup with the upgrae change later today?18:03
fungiyeah, that would keep the impact constrained18:12
fungihttps://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/pull/35186 could have really benefitted from a commit message19:51
fungilooks like it was a backport of https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/pull/35177 which at least has a list of issue links19:53
clarkbthe git tag name one looks like a good one to have19:54
clarkbI need to find lunch now. But happy to help keep an eye on gitea updates aftwerwards and I'll probably start testing that held etherpad server19:54
fungiyes, though we don't have a lot of long tags19:54
fungistill something we'd want fixed19:55
opendevreviewMerged opendev/system-config master: reprepro: temporarily ignore undefinedtarget  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/95649720:09
clarkbfungi: should I approve https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/956268 now?20:54
clarkbhttps://6e32525a01aeddfedfb9-8aab0ff599dd9fcfda722d0dee6871dd.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/openstack/26801bf5c8d84b63b46b3a376f756b09/bridge99.opendev.org/screenshots/etherpad-main.png this is the first thing I notice with etherpad (the front page css seems broken as the layout is weird). Then on firefox I get an error loading a pad but ti does load. Doesn't seem to happen on chrome21:00
clarkbactually no chrome shows the error now too21:00
opendevreviewMerged openstack/project-config master: Do not allow new x/ namespace projects  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/project-config/+/95659221:01
clarkbdefinitely don't want to upgrade etherpad in this state21:01
clarkbthe home button just takes you back to / with the broken layout. Not a big deal to have a button for that I guess but need to figure ou these issues21:02
clarkbclarkb-test is the pad I used if anyone wants ot check the minimal edits I made there21:02
clarkbok the error occurs when you get more than one user on a pad. Its trying to update the number of online users in the top right and that throws an exception. This is why I thought chrome didn't have the problem as I opened the pad there first21:13
clarkbbut once a second session joins all browsers seem to have the problem21:13
clarkblooking at the code I think there may be necessary code that ended up in the colibris theme and our no skin theme doesn't incluide it. Looks like colibris may also have gotten css updates that no-skin did now. I'm going to manually switch the theme over on the held node and see fi that makes the js error go away and if the front page renders more nicely21:20
clarkbyup switching to colibris fixes both problems. I'll file a bug21:22
fungiclarkb: i'm in the process of making dinner but will probably be free by the time the gitea changes merge, sure21:31
clarkbok I've approved it21:31
clarkbhttps://github.com/ether/etherpad-lite/issues/7065 has been filed for the etherpad problems21:45
clarkbat first I thought maybe our apache redirects were to blame but nope I think they just implemented this for the one skin only...21:46
clarkbfungi: stephenfin: looks like the big stack of pbr changes landed. Is the plan to make a release next? or are we doing more edits/testing first?21:50
fungii think there might be at least one change to go? i haven't double-checked22:09
clarkbfungi: is setting firefox to use the "dark" theme the same as enabling dark mode by default?22:25
clarkbI'm wondering what the right way to test dark mode etherpad is22:25
clarkband iirc you use dark mode with ff22:25
fungii don't actually know, i think i have ff set to inherit its behavior22:26
corvusclarkb: i have ui.systemUsesDarkTheme = 122:28
clarkback I'll test some stuff. I think gitea also auto detects so in theory if I get the right setting gitea will render differently too22:29
corvusclarkb: zuul has working autodetection too if you want a second opinion22:30
corvus(just make sure you have it set to auto in zuul's little gear menu)22:30
clarkbthanks. Selecting the dark theme then opening opendev.org and zuul.opendev.org shows that this is indeed the dark theme. But also no etherpad dark theme. Again likely beacuse they only implemented it for colibris22:31
clarkbI'm going to switch it on the test server to colibris to double check. But having those other sites to cross check with was what I actually needed to confirm dark theme deteciton works in general22:31
clarkbconfirmed!22:32
clarkbI'm beginning to wonder if we shouldn't just consider a switch to colibris at this point. I'll leave the test server switched over to colibris for now so that we can evaluate that option22:33
fungithe main gripe with colibris, if i remember, is that it tries to emulate the "sheet of paper" aesthetic from gdocs/msword and so wastes a ton of screen real estate22:34
fungialso lack of line numbers22:34
clarkbit has line numbers now. But yes it is sheet of paper like22:37
clarkbwe can see what they say about us using no-skin as well22:37
fungizuul says 956268 is about 15 minutes from merging22:45
clarkbfungi: the hourly eavesdrop job failed due to docker rate limits. Now that the server is upgraded we can start publishing those images to quay and consume them from there. /me makes a note to start on that23:07
clarkbthe gitea main page update is about to merge and hourlies are done so it should start deploying immediately23:10
opendevreviewMerged opendev/system-config master: Link VEXXHOST donor logo to testimonial article  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/95626823:10
fungiyeah23:11
fungihopefully it's spared any registry issues23:11
clarkbits a different cloud so has a better shot than most23:11
fungionce this is done, were you also wanting to do the gitea upgrade change today, or save it for tomorrow?23:14
clarkbI think we can save it for tomorrow at this point23:14
clarkbgitea09 should be updated23:14
clarkbthe link seems to work23:15
fungiyeah, looks right23:15
fungionce the rest are done and everything checks out, i'll drop off for the evening, but can plan to get the gitea upgrade going earlier tomorrow23:16
clarkbsounds good. I should be around by 8am local tomorrow which I think is 1500 UTC23:17
clarkbthe deployment reports success23:28
clarkband from what I've seen on gitea09 this si working (I did a clone test just in case as well)23:28
fungiyeah, everything's working fine from here23:29
fungiokay, i'm out for the night. will pick this back up tomorrow23:33
