mnasiadkaAnyone has an idea why 965347 is stuck in gate? Seems all jobs have finished some time ago08:45
fricklermnasiadka: it is behind https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla/+/932174 in the gate pipeline, so need to wait for that to finish09:01
fricklerand both merged09:08

clarkbgitea load is ramping up. Seems to be doing so across all of the backends so not specific backend getting targetted behind the load balancer16:31
clarkbcodesearch and rdo's builder ip addr are the biggest requestors currently16:34
clarkbLooking at their specific traffic I don't think there is anything super problematic in there. Its probably the long tail of crawlers this time16:36
fungior it's specific heavy requests rather than the total volume of requests16:39
fungicodesearch and rdo builders are usually the most frequent requestors when there's not a flood of something going on16:40
clarkbya and they are pulling small deltas16:42
fungiheading out to grab lunch finally, back soon17:19
clarkbfwiw I ended up blocking an ip range that was used excessively by a crawler. That seems to have made things happier. Gitea10 has higher load than the other 5 and it appears to be getting crawled directly. So we might still consider forcing all traffic through the load balancer still17:21
clarkbhttps://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/964728 is the change to do that if we want to pursue it further17:22
clarkbI do have some errands to run today around lunch in a couple of hours so may not be aroudn to babysit such a deployment17:22
opendevreviewClark Boylan proposed opendev/system-config master: Increase Gitea memacached limit to 4096MB  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/96542018:09
clarkbthat is an idea. Not convinced it will help much but seems reaosnable to try since we haev the memory available to us18:09
fungiokay, back and available to keep an eye on things18:32
opendevreviewIgor Pires Soares proposed openstack/project-config master: Add Kubernetes Module Manager app  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/project-config/+/96542218:47
clarkbwas anyone else interested in starting the gitea 1.25.0 upgrade process? My approach is to fetch the upstream code then diff our three overridden templates in order to update our templates to reduce the delta. Then also check for any changes to the upstream container image build (new system packages or new golang versions etc ). Then push something up and see if any of our existing19:46
clarkbtest cases break19:47
clarkbsometimes its worth added a new test case if there are concerns with the release notes19:47
clarkband sometimes new features need to be disabled (or enabled)19:47
opendevreviewClark Boylan proposed opendev/system-config master: Upgrade etherpad to 2.5.2  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/95659320:03
opendevreviewClark Boylan proposed opendev/system-config master: DNM force etherpad failure to hold node  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/84097220:03
clarkbupstream says ^ will fix our rendering issue. Our testing should confirm. I've also recycled the autohold to match. Hopefully we can upgrade etherpad first thing next week20:04

clarkbso ya lets plan to upgrade etherpad mondayish. I need to do a school run shortly, but will get a test pad up on the held node when I return20:41
fungiJayF: regarding https://review.opendev.org/963010 for glean, is it really the case that gentoo always uses systemd-networkd now?21:22
fungithough looking deeper into the patch, it seems like glean already assumed that, the detection is merely being refactored into a different part of the code21:25
clarkbfungi: I think gentoo supports other methods but glean only supported systemd-networkd for gentoo21:37

clarkb50.56.157.144 is the held etherpad. I have populated a pad named clarkb-test with some testing content. All looks well from firefox and chrome for me21:50
JayFfungi: Gentoo uses whatever you install. That's one of the decisions you make when running the install.21:56
JayFSo that is a valid option for it, but there's no way you're going to have full coverage for all of the different ways it may be configured21:56
clarkbtoday is a double school run day for reasons. I'll be popping out shortly again to do the same thign I just did but for a different kid. Like groundhog day just on a shorter interval22:01
fungiJayF: thanks, makes sense22:07
JayFhonestly it's one of those things where it's hard to imagine *how* to get that working reliably in gentoo22:10
JayFI guess the "gentoo way" would be for the image creator to configure it at install time22:11
fungisure, we probably just picked something to use for the gentoo images we had, and added support for that specific choice in glean22:11
fungiseems more likely at least22:12
clarkbI think prometheanfire picked it22:12
clarkbI think the idea was that it would be standardish across distros but that hasn't happened yet. But that made it a good choice to support as it could be reused elsewhere maybe22:13
JayFI think it's still a decent choice22:15
JayFmany gentoo installs have network configs as simple as "dhcpcd starts on boot"22:15
JayFhttps://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/System#Network handbook has dhcpcd and netifrc, the handbook forks at "using systemd?" earlier which has instructions on systemd-networkd22:17
