sshnaidmgtema, hey13:39
sshnaidmgtema, I was watching your conversation about having issues/repos on Github. Very interesting and would be very useful for AOC as well. But I didn't see how it ended, was some conclusion or solution taken?13:41

jm1sshnaidm: ^ where was this discussion? (so i could read up)14:11
gtemasshnaidm: the discussion was actually more toward having them on gitea (opendev.org). It didn't end up anywhere except of limbo. I just know that currently gitea of opendev is running in read only mode.14:39
gtemain order to have issues there it is required to redeploy gitea and enable the flag on the repo, but that requires somebody taking care of that (if I got it right)14:40
gtemaon the other side, sadly nobody really commented positively in that email thread and instead sadly a very often "we do not want a yet another tracker" statement was made14:41
sshnaidmjm1, https://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-discuss/2022-June/029168.html14:41
sshnaidmI see, that's really sad14:41
sshnaidmbut we don't need "yet another bug tracker", we just want "a bug tracker" :D14:42
gtemaI have in the meanwhile created a huge stack for implementing gitea with Zuul and also that is not getting reviews (https://review.opendev.org/q/topic:gitea_driver)14:42
gtemayeah, you are right - we just want a functioning tracker14:42
gtemaissue with gitea write mode is that you need shared storage between all nodes, and this may be not so trivial to implement depending on amount of resources infra team is having14:43
sshnaidmI see14:44
gtemaif we want it so much we may decide to go to infra team and offer support for that step. I am "ready" to do this, but I would need to have some backing support, not that I am the only one interested in the topic14:46
sshnaidmI think we can back you up here14:51
gtemaoko, my suggestion is then following:14:51
sshnaidmIt would be great to have something instead of half-functioning discouraging storyboard14:51
gtemasince I am next week on PTO starting somewhere Monday, Aug 8 I write to infra team (puting you in CC) asking whether/how we can support for redeploying gitea to ensure some projects can enable local issue trackers14:52
gtemaI see people just fall back to ancient launchpad as "working" solution from storyboard. We use gitea tracker for us and it just work14:53
sshnaidmsounds good14:54
gtemaok14:54

sshnaidmyeah, I didn't want to go to launchpad, not really best solution as well14:54
gtemait just so similar to BZ14:55
sshnaidmLP and SB are in close fight what is worst14:55
sshnaidmcan github based auth work in gitea?14:55
gtemathis is a second part of a technically more complex story of infra. They have Keycloak deployed and it can be used to add GH auth14:56
gtemabut it requires support to ensure accounts can be migrated from ubuntuone14:56
sshnaidmwhy to migrate them? One can use either ubuntuone or gh14:57
gtemaso that gerrit+keycloak work, and there this also requires some support (this time with real programming) on the area I barely have experience in14:57
gtemasshnaidm: in principle yes, but they want to make transition smooth14:57

gtemayou can ask them, but I have some link for details14:58
sshnaidmack14:58
* gtema is searching through tons of emails14:58
sshnaidmI was thinking more about ops that don't have account on ubuntuone and just want to submit an issue14:58
