markvan_Seems like the smf folks need to test things a bit harder, 2 release fails in a week14:56
cmlucianoAh well.. obviously in the helpers.rb I wonder if it gets changed to helpers if that would work14:56
cmlucianotrying a converge locally14:57
markvan_I think that code will only work with older levels of Chef, as Helpers is now reserved I think14:57

cmlucianoI can’t get the cookbook to converge properly on smartos15:22
markvan_smf issue already created: https://github.com/livinginthepast/smf/issues/2115:25
markvan_Wow, I15:26
markvan_m almost ready to put smf 221 in the Berks file15:26
markvan_and be done with this cookbook15:26
cmlucianoyep I just commented on it about the helpers clash15:27
markvan_humm, would be nice to have a common Berkfile include, I wonder if that's possible.   Like we would have a Berkfile.include in Common and have that pulled into all other cookbooks so15:29
markvan_stuff like this could be easily fixed and not hold us up.  Right now we only have the Repo Berksfile that is a full list.15:29
markvan_I think this could be done within our rake file steps, would need to pull from common same way we're going to pull bootstrap.sh15:30
markvan_a bit ugly, but would give us control over all these dependencies across the cookbooks.15:30
cmlucianoone berkfile to rule them all you mean markvan_ ?15:32
cmlucianoand then every cookbook just inherits from common?15:32
markvan_humm, well one berksfile to set only dependecy cookbook levels in common, and that somehow pull/append that to each cookbooks berksfile during vendoring15:33
markvan_so each cookbook would have a Berkfile with an include statement or some way of pulling in that common dependencies one15:34
markvan_I don't see include support in Berks anywhere, so would have to be done with brute force append and rake time15:35

markvan_sc`: interesting..had not thought of trying some code like that.  So we could do something like, in Rake pull down common include file, in Berks use instance_eval(File.read(berks))  to use it.  I'll have to play with that, thx16:00

markvan_cmluciano: I just ran with smf 2.2.3 on win7 host to ubuntu aio_nova, and it worked.  that's probably why I can't find the base issue with that Helper class.16:11
markvan_sc`: comment from Berks was it's not officialy supported, but I think it would really help us out.  And we already have a start for the include file in the reop Berksfile.  I'm not saying that  we need to have all the deps in there, but as these ugly break come up we can quickly fix it on our side and move forward16:16

cmlucianomarkvan: Taking a look at that other PR for rabbitmq, why would we only want the version to be that if pinned?19:00
markvancmluciano: when false, this is simply removing the version from the resource, therefore the platform repo version will be used.19:02
markvanThe issue was that the pinned version is sometimes not available in the platform distro repo, but there's a default version just waiting to be used.19:03
markvanso it became a trail/error case, we needed to run see pinned version failure, update version attr, run again.  big hassel when we're happy with default version in repo19:04
markvanclear as mud?19:04
cmlucianoYa that makes sense19:04
cmlucianoMy only woe is what if I want this version specifically and it does not exist, but instead calls on the default version that may be really old. The converge is happy because it just pulled that old version but I may not know this until later when I might run into problems because older versions do not work with what I am trying to do.19:06

j^2our issue is number fucking 419:20
j^2doesnt even say what it is19:20
cmlucianololololol19:20
j^2ah here we go19:21
j^2Set to true to precompile parts of RabbitMQ with the High Performance Erlang compiler. This will increase the message rate that the server can handle, while also increasing startup time.19:21
j^2You might see 20-50% better performance at the cost of approximately 1 minute delay at startup. These figures are highly workload- and hardware-dependent.19:21
j^2HiPE support may not be compiled into your Erlang installation. If it is not, enabling this option will just cause a warning message to be displayed and startup will proceed as normal. For example, Debian / Ubuntu users will need to install the erlang-base-hipe package.19:21
j^2HiPE is not available at all on some platforms, notably including Windows.19:21
j^2This option should be considered experimental. If your Erlang VM segfaults, disable this option again.19:21
j^2looks like we’d have to read it from the erlang cookbook19:22
j^2if it was possible19:22
j^2this has gotten a little more complicated19:22
