openstackMeeting started Mon Jan 28 17:01:23 2019 UTC and is due to finish in 60 minutes.  The chair is spotz. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.debian.org/MeetBot.17:01

diablo_rojo_phonHello17:02

*** openstack changes topic to "roll call (Meeting topic: diversity-we)"17:02
spotzHey17:02
spotz#link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/diversity-wg-agenda17:04
spotzThat’s the agenda really short17:05
diablo_rojo_phonSo it is :)17:06
spotzI’m also not on a computer so I can’t tab complete names:( Need to set up my chrome book until I get a new machine17:07
spotzWe’ll give folks a few. Colleen has a conflict for another meeting or two then will be back, fungi is on vacation17:07
diablo_rojo_phonSounds good.17:08
diablo_rojo_phonAs I'm sure you guessed, I'm on my phone.17:08
spotzYeah:)17:08
spotz#topic Survey17:09
*** openstack changes topic to "Survey (Meeting topic: diversity-we)"17:09
spotzAs of this morning a price says we have 131 responses. That’s up about 50 since our last check so the reminder email/community newsletter helped.17:10
spotzShe’ll be including the survey in Wednesday’s newsletter as well.17:10
spotzI’ll reach out to the CHAOSS folks about analyzing the data so we’re ready for the end of the survey at the end of February17:11
diablo_rojo_phonSounds good, if the is anything you want me to do at the CHAOSS event in Brussels Friday, let me know.17:12
spotzWe’ll definitely not re-do the survey in 2019, but we can discuss at a later date when we do want to aim for a potential review, rewrite and resend17:12
spotzUm maybe just give Mark a heads up?17:13
*** SWDevAngel has joined #openstack-diversity17:13
spotzHey17:14
SWDevAngelhi17:14
spotzI didn’t put in a CFP for the survey, I figured we could use our WG slot for it17:15
SWDevAngelI filled it out last week. :)17:15
diablo_rojo_phonspotz: Mark...?17:15
spotzOh duh Matt:)17:16
spotzThere’s a MArc and a Mark at the new place17:16
diablo_rojo_phonStill looking for a last name ;)17:17
spotzGermanoprez17:18
diablo_rojo_phonI don't think I've met him yet, but maybe Friday :)17:19
spotzPretty sure he’ll be there if not mention it to Georg17:19
spotzAnything else on survey?17:20
spotz#topic summit17:21
*** openstack changes topic to "summit (Meeting topic: diversity-we)"17:21
spotzAs I noted on the ether pad I submitted 2 CFPs which will fall under D&I but shouldn’t go through the voting. The Speed Mentoring and Git and Gerrit. Then we’ll have a BoF session which was used for mentoring in Berlin and our WG session which I’m thinking might be a presentation of the survey. Depending on mentoring we may have the BoF session to use for the main group as well17:23
spotzI’ll look and see if there’s anything we can do nearby as a D&I outing, maybe talk to Monty about his diving outing though unfortunately the certs needed to dive don’t really make it inclusive though I am considering it if I can find one of my dive cards:) In all likelihood I’ll be there on vacation, but we’ll see17:26
SWDevAngelDiving?17:26
SWDevAngelAs in scuba?17:27
spotzYou can do an organized dive in the tanks at the aquarium apparently17:27
SWDevAngelOh. Thanks for the clarification. I was trying to figure out what ocean was near Denver. ;)17:27
diablo_rojo_phonspotz: we also have sponsors for both formerly known as woo lunches17:27
SWDevAngelThat's awesome!17:27
spotzOh so the speed and networking?17:28
spotzHe’s also planning a lake dive near SLC but you need your own gear for that one17:28
diablo_rojo_phonYes17:29
spotzCool, that’ll help out a lot. Speed kinda fell off the radar until the last minute last time which is why I did the CFP for it17:30
spotzDo we know who’s sponsoring which?17:30
SWDevAngelI thought both went well last time. The community table was crowded and lively and a few connections were made. Some followed up with me to start groups in Europe. It was effective.17:32
SWDevAngelCould be an interesting topic again now that so many of our user groups have rebranded.17:32
spotzIt turned out ok, but we didn’t have table cards, we sent out info to mentors but then had other mentors added in I didn’t even know of:(17:33
spotzWe’ll have the same 3 topic areas, I think they work out well17:33
SWDevAngelTable cards would be good but there weren't so many tables last time so making that announcement at each session worked well enough i thought. But table cards are good for those that come in late17:34
SWDevAngel(i might be confusing the two sessions though.)17:35
spotzYeah and help with rotation, tech had one round with duplicate mentors but it was all good17:35
diablo_rojo_phonspotz: intel is sponsoring speed mentoring and IBM is sponsoring the diversity lunch17:35
diablo_rojo_phonI think lol17:35
SWDevAngelNo one rotated off my table. Everyone doubled down for the second session. It was a good conv so folks didn't want to leave17:36
diablo_rojo_phonYeah that's right I think17:36
spotzInteresting IBM is back:)17:36
SWDevAngelthat IS interesting!17:36
spotzBut Red Hat so makes sense:)17:36
SWDevAngelAnd Intel nearly always sponsors the lunch. Interesting switch17:36
SWDevAngelahhh yes. RH. right.17:37
spotzIntel does one or the other, so they’re back to speed mentoring like in Vancouver17:37
spotzBut it’s all good more visibility for D&I and maybe we can mention the regular mentoring program during the speed mentoring as I don’t think we normally do17:38
SWDevAngelAnother mention of the D&I activities during day 1 mainstage keynote will be awesome if we can make that happen again17:39
diablo_rojo_phonYes we should promote the WG more17:41
diablo_rojo_phonNot sure they have started on keynote planning much yet but I can ask.17:41
spotzAnd hopefully we’ll get out alcohol free section at the mixer, had a talk about it with Erin and Allison a while ago17:42
spotzOut=our17:42
SWDevAngelDid we have a mixer in Berlin? I'm blanking.17:43
spotzWe did, Tuesday night17:43
SWDevAngelIn the expo hall marketplace? Or offsite?17:43
spotzMarketplace17:44
SWDevAngel(Was I there?) (If so, clearly NOT in the alc free zone! (eyeroll)17:44
spotzThere was the pub crawl on Wednesday when D&I had the Nightwatch Tour17:44
SWDevAngelAhhhh, i did not to the pubcrawl. I think I was prepping my talk or something.17:44
SWDevAngelI did the marketplace thing because we were supposed to have an ambassadors meet and greet but signage didn't show up so it was a little confusing. Okay, neither here nor there.17:45
spotzA lot of things got held up in customs like the gender stickers17:45
SWDevAngelAwwww. Bummer! Well, the customs in Denver aren't as strict. Most things are legal there now! ;)17:46
spotzYeah we won’t have those issues for Denver17:46
spotzAs it gets a little closer we can start sending out notices. After this meeting we’ll have our first D&I tweet maybe email as well, just with a heads up of what we have going on17:48
spotzJust trying to get the group a little PR17:49
SWDevAngelI like the new OI Newsletter that's going out. Well done APrice! :)17:50
spotzAnything else on the topic of summit?17:50
SWDevAngelI have one quick thing for open discussion17:52
spotzOk17:52
spotz#topic Open Discussion17:53
*** openstack changes topic to "Open Discussion (Meeting topic: diversity-we)"17:53
SWDevAngelI was approached for an article featuring African-American women in open source. If there are any other Black women contributing to open source on this thread  who want to be involved, ping me and I'll get you in touch with Shilla. (Or ping Shilla directly. She's managing the project. :)17:54
SWDevAngeloh wait... I didn't mean to say women. The article features Black PEOPLE in open source.17:56
spotzNo one on this channel besides you I don’t think. I know there’s a few Linux groups but I think more ops then Open Source17:57
SWDevAngelokay. Well maybe someone will read the eavesdrop and will ping later. ;)17:58
spotzIGrr there’s someone in OSA for sure, but will need to find his nick for you17:58
spotzHe’s not logged in right now17:59
spotzAnything else we have 1 minute left17:59
SWDevAngelI've rounded up the usual suspects, but may have missed someone. No rush.17:59
SWDevAngelNope. Hope everyone got their CFP in last week. :) Hope we all get to meet again in DEN!18:00
