vishwanathjmugsie thanks for your response....pardon my ignorance, this is the first time I am playing with Designate, I used the link https://docs.openstack.org/designate/pike/contributor/devstack.html and section 4 to figure out what I needed to put in local.conf....I just enabled only the core services, Do I also need to explicitly configure a backed driver or does not get configured by default?
