sipior | howdy. silly question, but i'm damned if i can figure it out. i delegate dns for my openstack domain (compute.foo.com) from the main company dns. i can make records under that domain just fine using designate. i'd also like to make an A record for the domain itself, similar to the '@' notation under bind, but "openstack recordset create" doesn't permit a null host entry. am i missing something obvious? | 15:26 |

frickler | sipior: you need to tell the command the fqdn for the record, not just the host part. "openstack recordset create sample.com. sample.com. --type A --record 1.2.3.4" seems do work just fine for me | 17:03 |
sipior | ah, okay. many thanks, i'll give that a go. | 17:06 |
sipior | while i've got you here: i've been playing with giving each project its own subdomain (<project>.compute.foo.com), and whilst each created zone is attached to a project, there doesn't appear to be a way to specify that zone for automatic enrollment of instances from that project. is there an easy way to do that, or is automatic enrollment always tied to the *network*? | 17:09 |

tomtom001 | Hello, I have followed the guide here: https://docs.openstack.org/neutron/queens/admin/config-dns-int-ext-serv.html for my queens setup, but I am unable to get the port to publish A records automatically as in Use Case 3. I have looked through neutron, designate, and nova logs bug don't see any references to the port fqdn, is there a definite log I could look at to tell where it might be trying | 19:23 |
tomtom001 | to publish this port but is running into an error? | 19:23 |
tomtom001 | sipior: did you get that automatic enrollment process working? The link I posted above should work according to use case #3. | 20:23 |
