charcolalso, is there a naming scheme for branches?06:42

pas-hacharcol: not really necessary, if fixing a bug could be split into logically contained smaller patches  - better do it. A common rule of thumb it that the commit diff for a single change better be  <500LC, otherwise it is harder to review it. But again - it is not really possible to keep it small always :(06:49

TheJuliaefried: pas-ha: where can I find this email, i'm missing context14:36
mordredpas-ha: I mean, that said -ironic DOES have auth info - so if you just always use an auth'd keystoneauth session for the http GET call, it'll work whethre it's a glance url or an external URL14:36
fxpesterhm, in logs I see Execution completed, command line is "ipmitool -I lanplus -H 10.79.192.69 -L ADMINISTRATOR -U ironic -R 12 -N 5 -f /tmp/tmpTKKLvn chassis bootdev disk options=persistent"14:36
pas-haTheJulia: http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2017-August/120735.html14:36
mordredyou can make absolute url calls with keystoneauth.session.Session14:36
fxpesterbut node still tries to boot from network :(14:36
mordredand if the ironic in quesiton doesn't have service creds for a glance and the keystoneauth Session doens't have an auth object, it obviously won't work to download from an auth-requiring glance, but external urls will always still work14:37
* TheJulia understands now14:38
mordredSO ... long-winded way of saying it's not strictly required to know if it's a glance url before trying to fetch it - and it's possible to construct the http client such that both will work - but whether you WANT to or not is a different question I cannot answer14:38
pas-hamordred: we do not use sessions directly, we pass those to glanceclient and that needs an image ID, no direct REST URL path14:38
TheJuliafxpester: oh lovely, you need a particular option, on emoment14:38
TheJuliahi, web browser, please magically close the tabs that make this tab slow so I can type and and makes less mistakes. Thanks, Love TheJulia14:38
mordredpas-ha: yes - I understand. what I'm saying is that if you have an http:// URL and you have code already that understands how to fetch an image from that URL directly bifrost-style - then it IS possible to modify that code slightly so that it would also work if the URL was a glance image ref url14:39
mordred(and in fact, I'd recommend you just do that for the normal glance case anyway and ditch using glanceclient to download image content anyway - but that may be too big of a change for right now)14:39

kaifengcan i have some guidance about ironic bonding? it has been said that bonding is already supported in ocata, well i feel we just pass portgroup info to neutron, and ml2 driver capable of configure hw switch is still on the way16:50
kaifengso that means we support bonding for the flat network, is that right?16:51
TheJuliakaifeng: I believe that is correct, the ml2 driver has to take care of switch side config of course.16:52

kaifengTheJulia: thanks, then if i want to apply bonding for flat network, what should i do?16:54
*** xavierr has joined #openstack-ironic16:55
sambettskaifeng: you need to preconfigure the bond on the switch16:55
sambettskaifeng: and then provide Ironic with all the information about the bond16:55
sambettsin the form of a portgroup16:55
sambettsthe main requirement of supporting bonds in a flat network is that the switch needs to be able to have a bond configured but fall back to single links when not in use16:56
sambettsand not disable the links16:56
sambettsbecause otherwise PXE won't work16:56
kaifengthank you sam, i am considering imrprovde the bandwidth for bm, so switch config is optional i think, i can connect two ports to the same switch16:56
kaifengs/mprprovde/improve/16:57
sambettskaifeng: it depends on what type of bond you are configuring, if you want to use a mode4 (active-active) bond with LACP you will probably have to configure something on the switch16:58
sambettsto enable that feature16:58
kaifengmaybe not possible without a switch config16:58
