Continuity | Hey Ironic people. I know its the weekend, but if anyone is about, do you guys have issues with BMC's not respecting Ironics requests to set the boot order, or just randomly crashing. I see the same behaviour using both Redfish and IPMI. | 12:52 |
---|---|---|
Continuity | These are on supermicro machines, its really frustrating | 12:52 |
TheJulia | Greetings Continuity, we have! Are you using bios or UEFI mode? | 15:17 |
TheJulia | Also, what version of ironic? | 15:17 |
TheJulia | I have heard redfish is generally better behaved, fwiw. At least the operator who lives nearby has grumbled less about redfish with his super micro machines, but I can ask at some point later today. | 15:19 |
Continuity | Hey TheJulia, UEFI, and we are running 2023.2 | 16:19 |
Continuity | I find that Redfish is better at actually turning on and managing the devices, but tends to not manage to set the device to HDD boot at the end of the build cycle meaning they take an AGE to boot as they sit and cycle through 10 attached NICS. But at least thy mostly boot :D | 16:21 |
TheJulia | Ewwww | 16:27 |
TheJulia | So, what deploy interface are you using? | 16:28 |
TheJulia | What we do at the end of direct deployment is we explicitly set the UEFI default boot path record. What could be happening is option rom loading might be intercepting and trying to force network boot loading before proceeding to the configured loader | 16:29 |
Continuity | TheJulia the deploy interface looks to be direct. How do you do the magic you are doing :D | 17:12 |
Continuity | Im fairly new to ironic still | 17:12 |
