iurygregorygood morning Ironic o/11:46
Sandzwerg[m]good morning ironic o/12:44
TheJulia.... what is morning?13:05
TheJuliaSeriously, did not sleep at all last night13:05
iurygregorysorry to hear that TheJulia =(13:06
JayFTheJulia: That makes two of us 😐14:40
TheJulia:(14:40
* TheJulia is worried14:40
dtantsurAdd two more people across the ocean to the list :-/14:41
TheJuliaDid like an alien battle occur planet wide and a bunch of us were like "100% no sleep!" as a result?14:43
TheJuliaSorry, I'm hitting manic phase14:43
dtantsurWhat is common between 4 of us that let us sense disturbance in the force? :)14:46
TheJulia... no idea15:01
opendevreviewMerged openstack/bifrost master: Document enhanced node history CLI usage  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/bifrost/+/100208315:07
JayFTheJulia: just a sick dog keeping me up15:11
TheJulia:(15:12
rpittauwhen someone gets a chance, can I get some eyes on https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic-python-agent/+/994982 ? last missing patch before release, thanks! :) 15:23
TheJuliarpittau: just to get it on one job for the release?15:24
TheJuliaand flip it over entirely to 10 after release?15:24
rpittauyeah well we've switched ironic already15:25
TheJuliaoh, so we had it hardcoded when if we drop the hardocde it would have been fine15:29
TheJuliabut it could also make sense to keep15:29
* TheJulia shrugs15:29
rpittauI would not have asked if the iropnic change was still pending :)15:29
TheJuliaoh, okay15:35
TheJuliawell, its on it's way15:35
TheJuliaDoes that mean the release train is starting to roll forward?15:36
TheJulia:)15:36
JayFfwiw I put the +2a on that seeing this convo15:36
JayFas a strategic decision that the gate can be stopped15:36
JayFbut starting CI sooner is better if that's going into the release15:36
rpittauTheJulia: yep! :)15:38
rpittauthere are some outstanding patches in ironic, but everything else is on its way15:38
Sandzwerg[m]I have a question regarding ironic and ceph as swift replacement. Ironic is hardcoded to look for object-store in the OpenStack catalog, right? https://docs.openstack.org/ironic/latest/admin/radosgw.html seems to indicate that. Because for us it has a different name because in most regions we still run swift & ceph in parallel.15:48
dtantsurSandzwerg[m]: I think you can override service type for each service Ironic accesses15:49
dtantsurSandzwerg[m]: https://docs.openstack.org/ironic/latest/configuration/config.html#swift.service_type15:49
opendevreviewDmitry Tantsur proposed openstack/sushy master: Add features required for BMC management  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/sushy/+/100607415:50
Sandzwerg[m]Ahh! Perfect, exactly what I was looking for but where my search-foo failed me. Thank you very much!15:50
dtantsurSandzwerg[m]: possibly because the options come from keystoneauth, not Ironic. YW :)15:51
Sandzwerg[m]That might be15:53
TheJuliaafaik, there is a way, but I think because of th eway it works it doesn't get auto-doc'ed cleanly16:01
TheJuliachecking keystoneauth is the best thing to do first16:01
JayFit's in https://docs.openstack.org/ironic/latest/configuration/sample-config.html fwiw16:01
TheJuliaoh, cool, so we did fix some of the auto-doc rendering for the config16:01
TheJuliawell, not auto-doc, but auto-config-assembly stuffs16:02
cardoedtantsur: I’d +1 a back port.16:11
dtantsurof both?16:11
cardoeI need to read jay’s concern code. But I agree with you that it makes things better and not really new features.16:13
JayFfor redfish driver/sushy code, take my opinion as like a 1.5 lol16:14
JayFI know more folks have experience there on what actually is breaking/new support/etc16:14
JayFbut we just gotta be REAL careful. Even if we help 100 people, but break 1, it can't be backported16:15
cardoeYep. That’s why I’m saying when I have a computer I gotta look.16:21

* JayF is drafting a 2026.2 release notes prelude18:41
JayFrpittau: do not permit the release to be cut https://opendev.org/openstack/ironic/src/branch/master/ironic/common/release_mappings.py#L1016 38.0 has no release mapping18:47
* JayF flips a table18:47
JayFI'll have a PR up shortly, we'll need to backport it to bugfix/38.018:47
JayFOK good AFAICT the PR for cutting Ironic release+branch isn't up yet18:57
opendevreviewJay Faulkner proposed openstack/ironic master: 2026.2 release notes prelude  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/100609919:02
opendevreviewJay Faulkner proposed openstack/ironic master: Update release_mappings for 38.0  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/100610119:13
JayFTheJulia: clif: cardoe: any other cores awake ^19:13
JayFthese are two things we need to land (after review/revision) pre release19:14
clifim awake and ready to review sir!19:14
clifo719:15
JayFclif: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2inNT7E5avw :D 19:15
JayFlol I should've let that play to the end, whoops, NSFW at the end (someone put an F-bomb edited in at the end)19:15
JayFI'm sure you aren't offended but others in IRC click with care /o\19:16
cliflol19:16
clifJayF: is 38.0 the release mapping that will map to 2026.2?19:19
JayFno19:19
clifoh19:19
JayFmaster should still represent 2026.219:19
JayFwe cut 38.0 for a bugfix release a couple months back19:19
JayFand this is backfilling19:19
JayFand IDK what version number we're targetting for next release (probably doing a 39.x? but it could be 38.1...)19:20
JayFbut essentially, we merge this and backport to bugfix/38.019:20
JayFthen before the branch is cut, we land one that populates RELEASE_MAPPINGS and adds the new version number as a key to that dict19:21
JayFthis is all to manage rolling upgrades: you can set version numbers in the config file to limit what version Ironic will support in RPC19:21
JayFso you could "35.0" Ironic in all your configs, do a rolling code upgrade, then pull that config (since all conductors can "talk" Ironic 39.0 now, for example)19:22
clifreviewed em19:27
rm_workAnyone know why JayF pinged me? 🥹19:34
clifdelay release cut I think19:40
JayFI talked to Adam in DM :)19:48

TheJuliaJayF: I workflowed it20:30
TheJuliathe change that is, soryr, I was on my 1-on-1 which always runs long20:31
JayFI had the mappings and the prelude up20:35
JayFbut preldue is less "LAND IT" and more review it :)20:35
TheJuliaoh, oh20:43
TheJuliaI didn't see the prelude20:43
TheJuliaI +2'ed it, I can workflow if needed but maybe the folks in the EU might want more tomorrow20:44
