opendevreviewMerged openstack/kolla-ansible master: ironic: Switch ironic-http to use httpd image  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/98648304:14
mnasiadkablanson[m], frickler, bbezak: I’m starting to lean towards merging https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla/+/987064 as a temporary measure - ppa is down again06:38
blanson[m]yh I'm in favor of not depending on another ppa if the package is available in the official repos, regardless of ppa availability in general 06:51
mnasiadkaYeah, that’s another thing - we use the same ppa everywhere just to have the same problems everywhere :D06:52
mnasiadkaSo maybe let’s wait until current Ubuntu problems go away - see https://status.canonical.com06:53
opendevreviewMichal Nasiadka proposed openstack/kolla-ansible master: prechecks: Add a precheck if using test images (quay.io/openstack.kolla)  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/98605006:57
mikalmnasiadka: I do agree it would be nice to be consistent and convince the RabbitMQ people to just do arm64 builds, but I don't actually know anyone over there, so I would be going in cold...07:19
mikalI wonder if anyone in OpenStack land has a contact? I could email openstack-discuss and ask if you wanted?07:20
mnasiadkamikal: I have a history of nicely asking and then get shoot at, they usually respond to discussions in their GitHub repository07:20
mnasiadkaBasically usually I get the theme of answers “you OpenStack people you always want something” :)07:21
mnasiadkaAnyway, archive.ubuntu.com and security.ubuntu.com are down - so switching PPA won’t help a lot07:22
mikalOh interesting. My reading of https://www.rabbitmq.com/docs/install-debian#erlang-repositories is that it is in fact the rabbitmq team which is building the PPAs, but they only publish amd64 to their own repo for some reason. I wonder why that is?07:22
mnasiadkaTry asking here and let us know how it went https://github.com/rabbitmq/rabbitmq-server/discussions/07:27
mikalHuh. There are docker images for arm64 rabbitmq as well that appear to be based on Debian... Its a pity I can't just extract the .deb from those...07:29
mikalGiven they appear to delete questions / lock threads where people ask about non-PPA arm64 packages, I am going to choose not to start yet another fight on the internet. Especially given I don't know anyone who actually owns an arm64 machine, let alone runs OpenStack on one. https://github.com/rabbitmq/rabbitmq-server/discussions/1374507:40
mikalUltimately if the PPA is the only source for packages, if its long-term unreliable I would think that dropping support for arm64 Ubuntu container images would be the reasonable solution. If some pack of sad users wants to go advocate with upstream then that seems like the system working as intended to me.07:41
mikalI don't think its at the remove-ubuntu-on-arm64 point yet, but presumably if Canonical can't get stuff sorted out eventually that point does arrive.07:41
mikalWhat's the Kolla strategy for right now though? Just don't merge anything until its reliable? Or ignore Ubuntu CI failures for now?07:43
opendevreviewMichal Nasiadka proposed openstack/kolla-ansible master: prechecks: Add a precheck if using test images (quay.io/openstack.kolla)  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/98605007:45
mnasiadkaWell, marking all of Debian/Ubuntu jobs as non voting probably is easier07:46
mnasiadkaOn the longer run - maybe doing a mirror of the rabbitmq erlang PPA in OpenDev makes sense07:48
mikalAs best as I can tell, mirroring PPAs is deliberately a bit hard. Its not like other Ubuntu mirrors where you can get a ping to now sync.07:49
mikalBut its also not my field so perhaps I misunderstand.07:49
opendevreviewMichal Nasiadka proposed openstack/kolla master: set_configs: Add support for creating directories and setting perms  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla/+/98637708:13
blanson[m]I innocently tried building some custom images this morning for our preprod, gotta love ppa downtime :')08:14
blanson[m]mnasiadka bbezak https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/986050 would the suggestion I put work and be edge-case proof ? I think so but maybe I need more coffee08:19
blanson[m]actually, regardless of the correctness, I will make myself more coffee08:20
mnasiadkaCoffee seems good ;)08:24
fprzewozn^that's the ultimate solution to all problems 08:40
opendevreviewMichal Nasiadka proposed openstack/kolla master: CI: Temporarily stop running Debian/Ubuntu jobs  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla/+/98732308:41
opendevreviewMichal Nasiadka proposed openstack/kolla master: set_configs: Add support for creating directories and setting perms  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla/+/98637708:45
opendevreviewMerged openstack/kolla-ansible master: keystone: remove use_stderr to avoid duplicate logs  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/98491208:47
blanson[m]quick question mnasiadka bbezak frickler before I commit atrocities to patch stuff in our images... (full message at <https://matrix.org/oftc/media/v1/media/download/ASo2Vk--Rmd-jTFJ1EcUg289ACcIqfamAlw7bRSHw0I9EvAssCm6f1HWAV9GtttOS1qlKGtPmGHMvW-A3Lk0kN5CeeP5u_AwAG1hdHJpeC5vcmcveEpkSnFRalB6SE9lR0VjRUNva2NIT2lz>)09:40
blanson[m]else I can probbly do a patch to propose patching prior to install because this makes my eyes bleed09:41
mnasiadkaI love when the Matrix bridge says full message at <url> :D10:32
mnasiadkablanson[m]: if patch sources does not help in your case - try to fix it10:32
mnasiadka(I never used it)10:32
mnasiadkaBut if you need to patch entry points, then maybe you’re not doing it efficiently enough? :)10:33
opendevreviewMichal Nasiadka proposed openstack/kolla master: set_configs: Add support for creating directories and setting perms  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla/+/98637710:34
blanson[m][@_oftc_mnasiadka:matrix.org](https://matrix.to/#/@_oftc_mnasiadka:matrix.org) well I'm trying to add hooks in ironic inspection and there needs to be entrypoints for it :/ I'll look into what i can do to patch it in kolla10:45
mnasiadkablanson[m]: can’t you have your own additional repo for your hooks as a plugin and define the entrypoints there?11:11
blanson[m]That's the long term option yh, but rn I have like one 20 lines hooks I don't see myself making a whole repo for it lol11:13
blanson[m]Oh matrix allows for longer messages than irc so it cuts them [@_oftc_mnasiadka:matrix.org](https://matrix.to/#/@_oftc_mnasiadka:matrix.org) ? 12:32
blanson[m]I'm too young to be doing irc (:12:32

fprzewoznkevko would you be able to respond under https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/952089 ?13:27
opendevreviewFranciszek Przewoźny proposed openstack/kolla-ansible master: Allow overwriting Prometheus exporter listen addresses  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/98328113:37
opendevreviewLoan Harrouin proposed openstack/kolla-ansible master: Add cpuset dimension comparison methods to ContainerWorker class  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/98736513:59
opendevreviewMerged openstack/kayobe master: Extend etc-hosts support to all host groups  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kayobe/+/98454916:31
opendevreviewMichal Nasiadka proposed openstack/kolla-ansible master: kolla_container: Return annotation of comparison failures  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/97816217:20
blanson[m]let's see if https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/978162 raises some other forgotten bugs18:00
mnasiadkablanson[m]: that’s failing in CI, we can’t delete a function :D18:03
opendevreviewMichal Nasiadka proposed openstack/kolla-ansible master: kolla_container: Return annotation of comparison failures  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/kolla-ansible/+/97816218:05
mnasiadkaLet’s try this way18:05
blanson[m]oh well yes I saw this and it looked weird but then I got distracted because it didn't look red (yet)18:07
