rmart04Hello all, In Vancouver I asked for some clarification on a comment made in a PCWG session regarding Microsoft being one of the better organisations to deal with in regards to licensing (I’m guessing vs oracle right!), and I just want to make sure I got the right jist of that.09:38
rmart04I believe it was along the lines of openstack providers are allowing public cloud users to run their own MSSQL licenses in their public cloud environment, as long as it was made 100% clear that the responsibility of the license type/size(i.e vCPUs) etc was completely on the customer to deal with.

As we know, quite often we have no visibility of the customer workloads, I’m just wondering how people are tackling this? An option is to buy SQ09:38
rmart04licenses for every physical core, but that gets $$$ real fast!09:38
rmart04Could anyone comment on this?09:38

tobberydbergHi rmart0411:15
tobberydbergI'm probably not the best person to comment on this unfortunately ... from what I heard (not actually knowing the facts in details) I tend to agree with above statement11:16
tobberydbergAlso, feels like every provider has their own agreements about licensing and what is true for one is not the same for another11:17
tobberydbergWhat I know is that MS doesn't care about underlying hypervisor or hypervisor OS as some others does11:21
tobberydbergI think that a general rule is that customers not are allowed to use their own licenses if you as a provider of the infrastructure have a license agreement with MS11:49
