fricklerlajoskatona: I would finally go ahead and tackle https://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-discuss/2022-November/031276.html now, first push eol tags and then delete the branches. can you confirm that this should affect all branches up to and including stable/xena by now?08:42
lajoskatonafrickler: this was for tap-as-a-service am I right?09:08
lajoskatonafrickler: Yes the mail opened now, let me check09:09

opendevreviewElod Illes proposed openstack/releases master: Proposed 2025.1 Epoxy release schedule  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/92467109:57
fricklerjust ftr horizon dropping py3.8 support does cause extra work in reqs (because it is listed there as a dependency for plugins), we should be careful if more projects start doing the same10:45
fricklerlajoskatona: FYI all done10:52
lajoskatonafrickler: thanks11:28
elodilles_oooreminder: meeting will start in less than half an hour12:32

elodillesfrickler: yepp, (early) dropping py38 as supported version from setup.cfg (from oslo libraries) caused issues some cycles ago and we had to revert them afair12:55

elodilleswe are way down at line 23913:00
elodilleslet's go through quickly on the agenda13:01
elodilles#topic Review R-12 and R-10 week task completion13:01
elodillesR-12 week's tasks are @ L22313:02
elodilles1st task: '    Review any remaining milestone-2 exceptions. (all)'13:02
elodilleshttps://review.opendev.org/q/topic:dalmatian-milestone-213:02
elodillesno open patches, so this looks OK te me \o/13:03
fricklerack13:03
elodilles2nd task: '    Plan the next release cycle schedule. (elod)13:03
elodilles'13:03
elodilles#link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/92467113:04
elodillessorry for proposing this quite late :S13:04
fricklerI saw that you updated it, but will need to look again13:04
elodillesyepp, according to your comments13:04
elodillesnothing else13:04
elodillesanyway, it's a 26 weeks long schedule,13:05
elodillesrelease day at April 2nd13:05
elodillesWednesday as usual13:05
fricklersounds fine in general13:05
elodillesthe generated page from the patch: https://storage.bhs.cloud.ovh.net/v1/AUTH_dcaab5e32b234d56b626f72581e3644c/zuul_opendev_logs_efa/924671/2/check/openstack-tox-docs/efad2f3/docs/epoxy/schedule.html13:06
elodillesit's way before Easter13:06
elodillesone day after fools day :)13:06
frickleryes, I saw that easter is late next year13:06
elodillesthe only concern maybe CubeCon Europe 2025 is just at that week as far as i saw, but i don't know how problematic that is13:07
fricklerdoesn't matter to me, and I don't think we can avoid conflicts with everything13:08
elodillesit would be good to get feedback from ttx from foundation point of view before we advertise this to PTLs/teams/community13:08
fungii can also ask13:09
fungi(ttx is often quite busy these days)13:09
elodillesfungi: ACK, thanks in advance13:09
fricklerwe'll need more reviews anyway before we can announce this13:09
elodilleshe is travelling this week i know,13:09
elodillesbut one or two days delay shouldn't be a problem13:10
elodillesso yes, reviews are welcome :)13:11
elodillesokay, let's move on with the tasks for now13:12
elodillesthese two were the tasks of R-1213:12
elodillesnow comes R-10 week's tasks:13:12
elodillesL24313:12
elodilles1st task: '    Generate a list of intermediary-released service deliverables that have not done a release in this cycle yet and propose release model change for them if applicable. (elod)13:13
elodillesthe list of deliverables without any release:13:13
elodillesbifrost, ironic-prometheus-exporter, ironic-python-agent-builder, ironic-ui, networking-baremetal, networking-generic-switch, python-openstackclient, swift13:14
elodilles(elod) these are the usual ones. and we haven't suggested release model change for these over the past cycles, so i guess we can skip now as well13:14
elodilleslet me know if you think differently13:14
fricklerosc has at least proposed a release, though it is not quite ready for it yet13:15
elodillesfrickler: +113:15
fricklerbut I'm fine with keeping things as they were13:15
elodilles+113:15
elodillesyepp. so, anyway, nothing new that would worth a release model change. moving on.13:16
elodilles2nd task: '    Propose convenience releases for 2023.1 Antelope to ease the transition of Antelope to Unmaintained and avoid rush and broken releases when the transition deadline is coming. (elod)'13:17
*** bauzas_ is now known as bauzas13:17
elodillesi didn't get there to propose these releases this week, but planning to do that next week, when i'll be back in (home) office13:18
elodillesso this is still pending, i'm adding a reminder to next meeting's agenda13:18
fricklerack, doesn't seem to be too urgent and ptls will mostly take their time to respond anyway13:18
elodillesexactly o:)13:19
elodillesso these were the tasks from R-12 and R-10 weeks, moving on to next topic:13:19
elodilles#topic Assign R-8 week tasks13:20
elodilleswell, that's a calm week, too, only 1 task (beyond the weekly mail)13:20
elodillesand i can handle that13:20
elodillesso 'all' tasks taken :)13:21
elodilles#topic Review countdown email for week R-913:21
elodillesok, this will be tricky13:21
elodillesso here we have the template:13:22
elodilles#link https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/relmgmt-weekly-emails13:22
elodillesand I've crossed out the non-relevant parts13:22
elodillesand actually i think this time we can skip to send this mail13:22
elodillesthe only content will be the proposed 2025.1 Epoxy schedule13:23
frickleryes, I would have suggested not to include the build link that will soon expire13:23
elodillesafair we skipped this last cycle, too13:23
fricklerbut omitting the mail completely is likely the better solution13:23
elodillesfrickler: yes, it really depends if the schedule is in a mostly-final state or still evolving :)13:24
elodillesi think we can skip the mail for now and early next week, when we have more feedback from foundation and release team, i can send a mail to advertise the proposed schedule to PTLs/community13:25
frickler+113:26
elodillesACK, move on to next topic then!13:27
elodilles#topic Open Discussion13:27
elodillesanything to discuss?13:27
fungisorry if it came up already, but is there anything specific the skyline team needs to do to be officially included in 2024.2/dalmatian now that the tc has graduated them out of emerging/tech preview state? or will they need to wait for 2025.1/epoxy since this happened after the membership freeze deadline?13:28
fricklerafaict they already did get "official" releases before13:28
fricklerso nothing will have to change?13:29
fungithey're official releases, just not clear whether they were considered part of the coordinated release or merely an official project making releases at the same time13:29
elodillesskyline-apiserver and skyline-console is listed under deliverables/dalmatian/13:30
ttxHi! sorry I just got back13:30
fungithough i guess they're included in https://releases.openstack.org/caracal/ for example, so maybe it's just the openstack-map that needs them added13:30
fungiand nothing for the release team to worry about13:30
frickler+113:30
elodillesfungi: yepp, they are considered to be part of the coordinated release of 2024.2 Dalmatian :)13:31
fricklerI have just one review request that I mentioned earlier https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/92495413:31
ttxwill review the release schedule but I suspect it will be fine.13:31
elodillesttx: thanks in advance! \o/13:31
fungioh, skyline did get added to the map too looking at https://www.openstack.org/software/13:31
elodillescool \o/13:31
elodillesfrickler: i commented on the patch13:35
elodilles'requests' is a new (direct) dependency there, so probably we should bump MINOR version (6.7.0)13:36
fricklerhmm, I'm pretty sure that it is an indirect dependency already, but 6.7.0 should be fine anyway13:36
fricklerwaiting for gtema and stephenfin to respond13:37
elodillesfrickler: yepp, i have the same feeling13:37
elodilles(we should avoid new dependencies (at least beyond openstack libraries) on stable branches anyway, but 'requests' seems fine to me)13:38
gtemadamn, I am getting insane from all those direct and indirect upgrades13:39
elodilles(and 2.14.2 as a lower req is well beyond stable/2024.1's upper constraint: 2.31.0, so should be fine)13:40
elodilles(s/well beyond/well under/)13:41
elodillesanything else to discuss?13:41
fricklerjust a matter of perspective ;)13:41
elodilles:]13:42
*** bauzas_ is now known as bauzas13:42
fricklerseems like that's it o/13:44
elodilles#info next weekly meeting is in 2 weeks - Aug 9th13:44
elodillesthanks ttx for chairing that one o/13:44
elodillesOkay, if nothing else to discuss, then thanks everyone for participating and see you next week o/13:45

*** bauzas_ is now known as bauzas14:15
clarkbelodilles: frickler re dropping python versions one of the problems with oslo dropping older python first is that is an out of order sequence. You really need the applications to drop support first then the libraries. In this case it sounds like horizon may be treated as a library in some cases?15:41
