mnasiadkaspotz[m]: ack, haven’t found a mail clearly stating what is the decision is - but we’ll drop RDO usage in Kolla anyway17:14
gouthamrtc-members: can i have some more eyes on https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/958085 18:30
spotz[m]I know we said it somewhere:( I'll try to look but I'm in the middle of cat herding right now18:30
mnasiadkaspotz[m]: no worries, thanks for help :)18:48
opendevreviewMerged openstack/governance master: Use DPL model for  watcher project leadership for 2026.1 release  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/95808519:01
sean-k-mooney^ explains where my release laison power wenet but its fine. i was just expecting that to merge after RC120:43
sean-k-mooneymnasiadka: i was asking a similer quest on the qa channel about RDOs future20:44
sean-k-mooneyand effectivly what to use in devstack instead if it does not contineu20:44
sean-k-mooneymnasiadka: are ye going to just build debian/ubuntu images going forward or have you found alternitive repos for all the packages that came form rdo20:45
mnasiadkasean-k-mooney: all of the packages we need are in epel (and centos sig repos) - so we will still support centos/rocky20:47
sean-k-mooneyack. depening on if there are offical release fo 2025.2 i was thinking of trying to deploy devstack with RDO disabled on rocky or c10s and see how far it can get20:49
JayFY'all shutting down RDO?20:49
sean-k-mooneyi dont know what the offial RDO comunity message is20:50
JayFwell, no message at all to openstack-discuss :D 20:50
sean-k-mooneybut thre have nto been any really contributore form redhat workign on it for 6+ months20:50
JayFIt would've been nice to loop in upstream openstack on that earlier, I don't depend on those but others do20:51
sean-k-mooneythe folks taht are still active are not really working on it as part of there day job anymore20:51
sean-k-mooneywell the "RDO Epoxy 2025.1 Release - Important Note at Bottom" mail on may first20:51
sean-k-mooneymentions that there are no real maintianers20:52
sean-k-mooneyhttps://www.rdoproject.org/community/#the-next-release-cycle20:52
sean-k-mooneyits the same as the Important Note in that page20:52
JayFYeah, I saw that when I was looking to see if I missed the announcement20:52
sean-k-mooneythere has not been any that im aware of20:52
sean-k-mooneybasicly the light are on but there is very very little activety in rdo right now20:53
sean-k-mooneyi have been poking at this topic on and off for a year or so but never got an answer20:55
sean-k-mooneywhich is sort of an answer in a way20:55
JayFIt's not a good look for the community to sorta drift away without a good endpoint, but I know you are not personally at fault for any of that.20:57
sean-k-mooneyif im totally honest i have never really consiered myself part fo the rdo comunity which is partly why i dont wat to try an speak on there behlaf21:16
sean-k-mooneyi have doen a hand full of patches there but very very minimal21:17
clarkblooking at https://trunk.rdoproject.org/centos9-master/delorean-deps.repo I suspect hte main things devstack currently relies on from RDO are ovs, rabbitmq, and possibly ceph though I think sean-k-mooney did a quick check and ceph comes from elsewhere23:16
clarkbits possible that with the switch to ovn we can just stop testing ovs on those platforms (assuming ovn is available from elsewhere). That leaves rabbitmq which appears to publish their own rpm packages which could potentially be used instead23:18
clarkbcollectd is also listed in there but I don't think devstack uses it23:18
opendevreviewGoutham Pacha Ravi proposed openstack/governance master: Mark "Migrate from wsgi scripts" goal as completed  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/95881723:20
clarkbalso potentially tools like rabbitmq could be run from containers23:20
clarkbI think there are options here, but it is likely that they will require effort to keep the devstack centos jobs alive if the rdo packages go away or become stale23:21
