opendevreviewGoutham Pacha Ravi proposed openstack/governance master: 2025-11-17 Retirement and Handover of the `os-net-config` Project  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/96746322:39
clarkbjust a note to anyone following along: I think opendev would've happily continued to host os-net-config. The question is more whether or not it lives as part of openstack whether on opendev or on pypi. We seem to conflate that decision making with moving outside of opendev entirely so I just want to call out that isn't necessary22:53
gouthamrthey wanted to use opendev and gerrit iiuc: https://lists.openstack.org/archives/list/openstack-discuss@lists.openstack.org/message/DOXFHGC64OKNDOY6LKCV6554YKNWFN7O/22:55
clarkbgouthamr: the email from Karthik says "In May of 2023, following the deprecation of os-net-config in OpenDev as part of the deprecation of TripleO [1], the team supporting os-net-config at Red Hat wanted to continue development for a limited time.  The development of os-net-config needed to move to GitHub as a result"22:56
gouthamrah!22:56
clarkbI just want to calrify opendev would happily host such a project as long as it remained open source22:56
gouthamri missed that; please feel free to chime in about that clarkb.. 22:57
clarkbI think the ship has long sailed on it. I just want to call it out for people who are listening today who may be interested in adopting additional items openstack is no longer maintaining22:57
clarkbopendev will host your efforts if you like as long as the project remains open source22:57
clarkbthere is no direct need to move to github. You are free to choose the location of your choice and opendev remains an option (as does gitlab or self hosting something or codeberg)22:58
