StyXman | I'm looking for someone who has some knowledge on OVN. I'm using it from LXD, but people there are not 100% responsive to deep questions. I also tried on libera.chat:#openvswitch, but the channel is mostly used for (weekly?) dev meetings. | 08:25 |

StyXman | my usecase is this: I just created an OVN network and LXD instances can attach to it and get DHCP from the OVN network. but in my case I have attached the host to the OVN network and I can route through it, but I can't seem to understand how to changed the DHCP options so the instances can use this escape route. I just set things in the NBDB and now I don't even get DHCP anymore, even when I reverted to the original values | 08:28 |
StyXman | the closest I got to an answer is https://blog.oddbit.com/post/2019-12-19-ovn-and-dhcp/, but it's not telling why this is not working, even after https://serverfault.com/questions/995213/setting-up-dhcp-with-ovn | 08:32 |

StyXman | one thing I forgot to mention is that LXD seems to be creating the DHCP server themselves, so I can't set the options from the startt; my idea is to keep using this DHCP server, but telling it to use the other IP for gateway | 08:53 |
guesswhat | Hey, guys, anyone is using Designate? What are You using as a backend? My idea was to run Bind9 on router, which is responsible for WAN NAT and VLAN for management networks. Thanks | 09:07 |

johnsom | guesswhat: Yeah, BIND9 is a good choice. | 13:14 |
guesswhat | johnsom: unfortunatelly i wanted to use vyos as designate backend, but it does not support authoritative dns ( bind 9 ), only pdns recursor | 13:17 |
guesswhat | is there any other backend that designate supports? ( no infloblox ofc ) | 13:17 |
johnsom | Pretty sure you can install it or build BIND9 for it. I know people have done that on the Ubiquity edgerouters. | 13:45 |
johnsom | guesswhat: The list of backend is here https://docs.openstack.org/designate/latest/admin/support-matrix.html | 13:45 |

Xlr12 | Does anyone know how openvswitch gets its port speed and if the openvswitch bridge limits speed based on it? I have 2x25gb ports bonded on a compute server for my phyiscial egrees and openvswitch lists the virtual ports to my VMs as 10GB copper. I'm get unexpectedly low network performance on my testing with it maxing out at about 9Gbps on those VMs. | 15:21 |
