TK_ | Hello Team,I have an openstack environment with 4 compute Nodes however yesterday out of the blue, the Instances on one of the compute nodes started shutting themselves down. Then I realized the the compute service was disabled when I checked in Horizon. I enabled it and restarted the instances and all was well but I cant figure out what caused it. I have attached the nova_compute logs here incase someone would like to support | 07:41 |

frickler | TK_: how much memory is being used on that node? check for oom messages in syslog/journal | 07:49 |
TK_ | Ok | 07:52 |
TK_ | It is using 225 GB out of 1.5TB | 07:54 |

chris218 | Hi is there a way to configure UEFI boot order in nova? I know there's a libvirt:pxe-first option but it looks like it only works on NetBIOS boot | 14:49 |
chris218 | SeaBIOS* | 14:49 |
frickler | chris218: I don't think nova supports anything other than booting from the first disk? | 14:51 |
chris218 | you can do netboot with libvirt:pxe-first=1 set in properties frickler | 14:53 |
chris218 | Also you can boot into edkII bios config end influence boot order but it looks like it's not exposed by nova itself | 14:53 |
chris218 | *and influence | 14:54 |
frickler | nova doesn't support everything that libvirt does. I found https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova-specs/+/577048 but that doesn't seem to have gotten very far | 14:59 |
chris218 | I guess going with a custom ipxe image is the way to go then, thanks | 15:09 |

fl0id | Hey, so I am having trouble finding suitable docs if what I am trying to do is possible. Basically, if deploying openstack on a cloud vm with a non-openstack provider, how can I properly assign the ips I am given as floating ips? Also see: https://serverfault.com/questions/1152120/how-to-assign-digital-ocean-floating-ips-reserved-ips-to-openstack | 16:36 |
fabiomirmar | Hey folks, do you know how can I query/retrieve stats that were collected using a custom metric, such as when I launch an instance with "nova boot --meta metering.custom_metadata=a_value my_vm" ? | 18:13 |
dekarl[m] | Hi, I'm having a hard time finding documentation on accessing a Swift container from a service in a Kubernetes cluster using the service account as identity. | 20:55 |
dekarl[m] | Is using identity federation with a Kubernetes cluster as IDP not documented / supported? | 20:55 |
dekarl[m] | (AWS calls it IAM Roles for Service Accounts, Azure calls it Azure AD Pod Identity. e.g. https://github.com/aws/amazon-eks-pod-identity-webhook or https://azure.github.io/azure-workload-identity/docs/) | 20:55 |
