@dpawlik:matrix.org | Hello folks o/ May I ask for review + merge https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ci-log-processing/+/855875 if its possible? | 13:00 |
@dpawlik:matrix.org | I also ask to review https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/zuul-jobs/+/895597 | 13:01 |
@dpawlik:matrix.org | Small summary of checking zuul jobs related to the minikube: https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/zuul-jobs/+/894755 - I add a test for checking if pods inside the minikube are able to resolve the address name and...In all tests it fails. So it means, that all minikube jobs can not reach the internet, which might be imporant | 13:03 |
@dpawlik:matrix.org | I'm still have some troubles to get answer why it fails on your CI when it pass on my local VM. ( job zuul-jobs-test-ensure-kubernetes-crio-vm-driver-podman-ubuntu-jammy ), but I can tell that using vm-driver podman + cri-o works well for pods | 13:05 |

I'm not sure this group is the proper review crowd for changes to this repo?

Does minicube take the host system resolver address and blindly insert it into the containers? We use localhost forwarding unbound resolvers that won't be accessible at 127.0.0.1:53 in the containers since they have a different network namespace
@dpawlik:matrix.org | ah, wrong url | 15:09 |
@dpawlik:matrix.org | I want to paste this one: https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/zuul/+/889314 | 15:09 |
@dpawlik:matrix.org | bad copy-paste | 15:09 |
@dpawlik:matrix.org | it can be it. I will make a test tomorrow | 15:09 |
@dpawlik:matrix.org | normally I set the nameserver ip addres to the host, and it can be that in the CI it is set to localhost | 15:10 |
@dpawlik:matrix.org | thanks for that hint! | 15:10 |
-@gerrit:opendev.org- Clark Boylan proposed: [zuul/zuul-client] 896137: Convert container to Bookworm + Python3.11 https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/zuul-client/+/896137 | 15:14
@ajaiswal:matrix.org | how to run re run job failed job or the job which is not triggered | 15:22 |
@ajaiswal:matrix.org | for example https://review.opendev.org/c/starlingx/ansible-playbooks/+/894802/5?tab=change-view-tab-header-zuul-results-summary | 15:22 |
@jim:acmegating.com | ajaiswal: #_oftc_#opendev:matrix.org might be a better place to ask about that, since it's particular to opendev's configuration of zuul; but a quick answer is you can leave a "recheck" comment. | 15:24 |

recheck is not working | ||
@jim:acmegating.com | then #_oftc_#opendev:matrix.org is definitely the right place to follow up; the folks there can help figure out why | 15:26 |

-@gerrit:opendev.org- Clark Boylan proposed: [zuul/zuul-registry] 896139: Convert container to Bookworm + Python3.11 https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/zuul-registry/+/896139 | 15:42
-@gerrit:opendev.org- Clark Boylan proposed: [zuul/gcp-authdaemon] 896140: Convert container image to Bookworm https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/gcp-authdaemon/+/896140 | 15:44
@jpew:matrix.org | Is there a way to make nodepool wait a liitle bit between node launch retries on failure? We had a transient openstack error and it just burned through all the tries too quickly | 15:44 |
-@gerrit:opendev.org- Clark Boylan proposed: [zuul/zuul-operator] 896142: Convert container to Bookworm + Python3.11 https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/zuul-operator/+/896142 | 15:48
-@gerrit:opendev.org- James E. Blair https://matrix.to/#/@jim:acmegating.com proposed: [zuul/zuul] 895006: Add more safety check tests https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/zuul/+/895006 | 20:24
-@gerrit:opendev.org- James E. Blair https://matrix.to/#/@jim:acmegating.com proposed on behalf of Clark Boylan: [zuul/zuul-operator] 896142: Convert container to Bookworm + Python3.11 https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/zuul-operator/+/896142 | 20:31
@jim:acmegating.com | Clark: ^ i added a depends-on to the current locus of fixes | 20:32 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | thanks! | 21:08 |
-@gerrit:opendev.org- Clark Boylan proposed: [zuul/zuul-registry] 896139: DNM testing if python3.11 is the problem https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/zuul-registry/+/896139 | 21:22
@clarkb:matrix.org | zuul-registry is failing to build and I think it dogfoods itself? I'm trying to see if python3.10 works and 3.11 is somehow a problem | 21:22 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | otherwise debugging this will probably be more involved | 21:22 |
@jim:acmegating.com | Clark: https://zuul.opendev.org/t/zuul/build/ea3f9d70a5aa4597bfde937a239acb00/log/docker/functional-test_registry_1.txt looks relevant | 21:24 |
@jim:acmegating.com | https://github.com/kislyuk/rehash/issues/6 | 21:26 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | aha so something cherrypy or its dependencies need to sort out? | 21:26 |
@jim:acmegating.com | direct depends | 21:27 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | except zuul web is fine? | 21:27 |
@jim:acmegating.com | not cherrypi | 21:27 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | maybe we don't bother with ssl in zuul web | 21:27 |
@jim:acmegating.com | * not cherrypy | 21:27 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | ok in that case maybe we don't move to python3.11 but do bump to bookworm. Then we can clean up the bullseye images at least | 21:27 |
@jim:acmegating.com | no look at the bottom of the stacktrace; it's a direct zuul-registry dependency | 21:27 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | oh | 21:27 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | ok maybe this is fixable somehow then | 21:28 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | we'd need a different hashing tool I guess? | 21:28 |
@jim:acmegating.com | yeah, i don't see how to fix it yet. that issue sat for a year. so we either need to fix rehash ourselves or see if there's somethig new. | 21:29 |
@jim:acmegating.com | the "resumable" part of that is important | 21:29 |
@jim:acmegating.com | https://opendev.org/zuul/zuul-registry/src/branch/master/zuul_registry/storage.py#L40-L47 | 21:30 |
@jim:acmegating.com | * https://opendev.org/zuul/zuul-registry/src/branch/master/zuul\_registry/storage.py#L40-L47 explains what it's all about | 21:30 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | ok and then `hash_state = self.hasher.__getstate__()` is the bit that does what that describes | 21:31 |
@jim:acmegating.com | yep, that's basically us "pickling" the hasher machine | 21:31 |
@jim:acmegating.com | https://github.com/kislyuk/rehash/blob/main/rehash/__init__.py#L15 | 21:33 |
@jim:acmegating.com | so i guess that's the roadmap :) | 21:33 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | and it looks like rehash is digging into c things. I guess it makes sense that this isn't atrivial port | 21:36 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | calls memmove to ultimately set the state in the openssl library | 21:36 |
@jim:acmegating.com | yeah.. looks like they added *some* openssl3 structures though: https://github.com/kislyuk/rehash/blob/main/rehash/structs.py | 21:37 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | fwiw doesn't look like debian ships oldopenssl as an option | 21:38 |
@clarkb:matrix.org | looks like quay may be using rehash as well? Maybe we can convince quay to fix it for us :) | 21:40 |
@fungicide:matrix.org | confirmed, libssl1.1 was dropped in bookworm | 22:13 |
@fungicide:matrix.org | in order to build older python i install and build a local openssll from source now | 22:14 |
