@mfeder:matrix.org | Hello, | 08:26 |
---|---|---|
I'm interested in sending a build report to the Matrix chat through Zuul once the build completes. After exploring the available Zuul reporters, I couldn't find one that suits my needs. e.g. I'm unable to receive MQTT messages from Zuul when using a non-self-hosted Matrix server. | ||
To address this, I'm considering options such as creating a custom Matrix reporter and extending the Zuul codebase to support it. However, for the time being, I'd prefer a workaround if possible. One idea is to send the report to Matrix from a post-run or cleanup-run job. Nevertheless, I've noticed that only the zuul_success and zuul_will_retry boolean values are passed to post-run jobs, which don't cover all possible build statuses (e.g., when the build is aborted). | ||
Any insights or suggestions on how to achieve this would be great. | ||
@fungicide:matrix.org | mfeder: when you say "I'm unable to receive MQTT messages from Zuul when using a non-self-hosted Matrix server" you mean matrix servers have their own mqtt listeners? i never knew that. i assumed you'd just run a standalone daemon somewhere (possibly even on your zuul scheduler) that listened to the mqtt output and connected to matrix like a normal client. we have something similar that reports in this channel from gerrit's ssh-based event stream, for example | 10:11 |
@mfeder:matrix.org | fungi: I meant to create a matrix bot equipped with MQTT listeners... Anyway, thank your for your hint to spawn standalone daemon which would consume MQTT reports and subsequently transmit them to the Matrix. I will certainly give this approach a try, and again, thank you! | 11:00 |
