@jangutter:matrix.orgHi folks, I have an etiquette question - many OpenStack projects have a policy that the irc channels are for discussing development with community support questions handled in the non-project-specific channel. I couldn't find if there's a similar policy here in Zuul? (Also want to be clear that community support is usually a very tricky thing to define and unreasonable expectations should not be set)14:25
@jim:acmegating.comthere is only one channel here, you're welcome to ask whatever you want.  in general, you'll get better responses with questions about how you can help yourself (like, "what part of the documentation should i read to learn about X") or how you can help the project.  acme gating offers commercial support which is a great option if your company is using zuul.  engaging with acme gating is a win-win, since you'll get expert support and you will also be supporting the development and maintenance of zuul.  i'm happy to talk about that directly.14:30
@jangutter:matrix.orgExcellent, thanks very much for clearing up! My permanent impostor syndrome just occasionally makes me check if I've not missed something obvious. And I can definitely confirm that if you're wanting to learn Zuul internals, this is the place to be.14:36
@fungicide:matrix.orgyeah, people asking for spoonfed support and hand-holding (except maybe when it comes to making improvements to zuul) may struggle to get answers here, but if you're a relatively self-sufficient user then questions clarifying usage and such are well-received14:42

@fungicide:matrix.orgjust be mindful that we're scattered across the globe, so don't expect an answer right away, and you might have to ask more than once if people don't notice14:43
@jangutter:matrix.orgYeah, I'm supremely grateful for all the feedback I've gotten here over the years - can confirm it's much more useful if you put in the work. (Mostly also a general observation of the human condition...)14:46
@fungicide:matrix.orgalso don't forget the zuul-discuss mailing list is potentially better for longer-form and more asynchronous topics too16:02
@fungicide:matrix.orgthough the same caution about being somewhat self-sufficient applies16:02
@fungicide:matrix.orgi got to say "there is no nodepool, only zuul" in an openstack octavia meeting just now... mission accomplished16:10
@jim:acmegating.combut, shh... don't tell anyone yet, it's not ready for use ;)16:11
@fungicide:matrix.orgit was in an opendev context, but yeah16:12
@jim:acmegating.comyep, opendev being the alpha tester for niz is an open secret16:12
