16:14:14 <dtantsur> https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/820396
16:14:30 <dtantsur> and bifrost changes
16:14:55 <rpittau> ok
16:16:21 <dtantsur> I can also offer a metal3 patch for review :D
16:16:25 <rpittau> :)

16:17:49 <rpittau> I'll take that as a yes!
16:17:56 <rpittau> #topic Priorities for the coming week
16:18:01 <rpittau> #link https://review.opendev.org/q/hashtag:ironic-week-prio+status:open
16:19:05 <rpittau> it seems we have some space for reviews this week
16:19:36 <dtantsur> I would like to add https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/821537 https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/820904 and https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/821010/
16:19:41 <dtantsur> all 3 are relatively small
16:19:55 <arne_wiebalck> dynamic network pairing for burn-in: https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic-python-agent/+/821244
16:20:11 <rpittau> dtantsur: added
16:20:20 <arne_wiebalck> not super small, but maybe interesting to see if you can find holes :)
16:20:27 <rpittau> arne_wiebalck: added that too
16:20:32 <arne_wiebalck> rpittau: thanks
16:22:03 <rpittau> looks good, does anyone have anything else to add ?
16:22:41 <rpittau> alright, moving on
16:22:51 <rpittau> there's nothing up for discussion this week, so jumping to....
16:23:00 <rpittau> #topic Baremetal SIG
16:23:09 <rpittau> #info Tomorrow Tuesday Dec 14, 2021 at 2 PM UTC -> Dmitry Tantsur on "Overview of Metal3 (with demo!)"
16:23:23 <dtantsur> :)
16:23:32 <rpittau> can't wait! :)
16:23:37 <arne_wiebalck> for the demo?
16:23:42 <arne_wiebalck> ;)
16:23:51 <rpittau> yeah, very curious to see this metal3 thing in action :D
16:23:55 <arne_wiebalck> heh
16:23:57 <dtantsur> it won't be too long, I must warn - my environment keeps misbehaving
16:23:59 <dtantsur> lol
16:24:02 <arne_wiebalck> dtantsur: live demo?
16:24:20 <dtantsur> I'm too lazy to record anything, so you'll have to bear with me :)
16:24:37 <arne_wiebalck> ha, with pleasure, I am sure it will be great
16:24:42 <dtantsur> on the other hand, we can poke around together :)
16:24:48 <arne_wiebalck> nice!
16:25:01 <arne_wiebalck> I don't think there is anything else for the SIG
16:25:09 <arne_wiebalck> we may skip the jan meeting
16:25:15 <arne_wiebalck> not sure I find someone to present
16:25:30 <rpittau> sure
16:25:31 <arne_wiebalck> unless there are volunteers ?
16:25:47 <TheJulia> my plate is overflowing at present :(
16:26:32 <arne_wiebalck> sure, was more a joke, everyone should get some rest and I'll find someone for feb
16:27:07 <rpittau> sounds good
16:27:21 <rpittau> let's move on ?
16:27:24 <arne_wiebalck> yes
16:27:43 <rpittau> ok!
16:27:43 <rpittau> we don't have RFEs to review, so jumping to
16:27:43 <rpittau> #topic Open Discussion
16:27:58 <rpittau> anything unplanned to discuss ?
16:28:00 <dtantsur> rloo: re "are folks really using adoption"
16:28:03 <dtantsur> Yeah, we're using it very actively in Metal3. Not only to adopt externally provisioned nodes, but also to migrate nodes between Ironic's (e.g. when pivoting from the bootstrap cluster to the final one) and to recover the database if the Ironic pod gets deleted.
16:28:21 <dtantsur> So, unlike in most cases, adoption is a routine process for us
16:28:22 <rloo> dtantsur: sweet, that's great!
16:29:10 * dtantsur makes a note to talk about it tomorrow
16:29:31 <arne_wiebalck> not sure we have this, but maybe worth documenting how this works with nova
16:29:40 <arne_wiebalck> adoption, I mean
16:30:25 <dtantsur> like "OMG terribly"? :D
16:30:29 <rloo> [it doesn't play nice with nova right now]
16:30:56 <arne_wiebalck> I have adopted a couple of thousand nodes into Nova and Ironic :)
16:31:14 <rloo> we have too, at yahoo, but not via the adoption mechanism.
16:31:14 <dtantsur> have a blog post?
16:31:36 <arne_wiebalck> https://techblog.web.cern.ch/techblog/post/ironic-nova-adoption/
16:31:42 <dtantsur> yeah, I've heard about bright people doing 'openstack stack delete' on their tripleo, and then dancing around the fake drivers
16:31:52 <dtantsur> to get their cloud back
16:32:42 <arne_wiebalck> rloo: true, same here
16:33:07 <arne_wiebalck> rloo: my point was to make this clear in our docs ... unless we have already
16:33:19 <arne_wiebalck> rloo: so users do not get too excited :)
16:33:22 <dtantsur> https://docs.openstack.org/ironic/latest/admin/adoption.html
16:33:48 <dtantsur> nothing much abut nova
16:33:54 <arne_wiebalck> dtantsur: right
16:34:05 <rloo> hmm. maybe we should add something at the top, wrt do-not-use-with-nova...
16:34:06 <arne_wiebalck> dtantsur: I can suggest sth
16:34:19 <dtantsur> ++
16:34:20 <rloo> thx arne_wiebalck! :)
16:35:19 <rpittau> thanks arne_wiebalck :)
16:35:48 <rpittau> any other topic to discuss today ?
16:36:40 <rpittau> seems we're good to proceed to the last topic
16:36:56 <rpittau> #topic Who is going to run next year's first meeting?
16:37:22 <dtantsur> I think we should appoint the PTL if he's back
16:37:30 <rpittau> sounds good :D
16:38:20 <rpittau> coll, thanks everyone, have a great week!
16:38:23 <rpittau> #endmeeting
