15:00:13 <felipe_rodrigues> o/
15:00:15 <haixin> O/
15:00:28 <gouthamr> o/
15:00:29 <vhari> o/
15:00:58 <nahimsouza[m]> o/
15:03:59 <carloss> o/ hello
15:04:25 <carloss> nice to see you here today
15:04:47 <carloss> let's get started with today's meeting agenda
15:04:50 <carloss> #link https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Manila/Meetings#Next_meeting
15:05:21 <carloss> #topic Announcements
15:06:04 <carloss> Schedule and Deadlines:
15:06:15 <caiquemello[m]> hi
15:07:29 * carloss realized he made changes to the wrong place in the meeting agenda - a refresh should show the actual agenda for today
15:07:34 <carloss> #link https://releases.openstack.org/antelope/schedule.html
15:08:04 * ashrodri joins late o/
15:08:10 <carloss> o/ ashrodri
15:08:18 <carloss> so feature freeze is next week
15:08:46 <carloss> + client release. So by the end of the next week we should have all client featureful changes merged
15:09:03 <carloss> and the features we are targeting merged as well
15:09:36 <carloss> if you need a feature freeze exception, we can talk about that during the next week
15:09:38 * carthaca joins late, too - hi
15:09:51 * carloss carthaca o/
15:10:16 <carloss> many changes haven't received many reviews, as we have a reviewer shortage
15:10:39 <carloss> we will talk about reviews in a couple of minutes
15:12:13 <carloss> next thing on announcements:
15:12:22 <carloss> Bug squash
15:12:40 <carloss> so we talked about this during the cycle and I was thinking with vhari on possible themes
15:13:21 <carloss> during one of the meetings we had, vhari presented some stats about our bug backlog, and the number of bugs started growing again
15:14:20 <carloss> and I tried to look at it with different eyes: yes, we have had a couple of bugs being reported, but after I checked launchpad, I realized we have so many bugs in progress
15:14:35 <carloss> that means: the bugs have a fix proposed but those fixes haven't merged yet
15:15:06 <carloss> and I believe that could be a good theme for us: getting closure for bugs that we already have the fixes proposed and we are lacking reviews or new PS updates from owners
15:15:29 <carloss> #link https://ethercalc.net/8ru5hurhelyl (List of bugs in progress)
15:15:43 <carloss> we have more than 40 in progress reports in the list!
15:15:53 * carloss thanks vhari for collecting this list, it looks great!
15:16:06 <vhari> carloss, yw
15:16:20 <carloss> so the theme of the next bugsquash would be: getting closure to in progress changes
15:16:59 <carloss> I think in that way we can make a dent in the bug stats aaand land some bug fixes
15:17:04 <vhari> carloss, 99%+ of the 'in progress' list is targeted for A release .. added bonus
15:17:24 <vhari> #link https://launchpad.net/manila/+milestone/antelope-3
15:17:55 <carloss> we need to have that bugsquash before rc1 week
15:18:29 <carloss> which is in two weeks from now
15:20:12 <carloss> we don't need to use many days for this I think, so we could start on Feb 22nd and end on Feb 24th or start on Feb 23rd and end on Feb 27th
15:20:33 <gouthamr> +1
15:20:50 <carloss> I think Feb 23rd to 27th (Thu - Mon) would be great - that way we would be able to run tests and make sure everything is in place for RC1
15:21:06 <carloss> but I would like to know your thoughts for this :)
15:21:23 <felipe_rodrigues> would it impact the FF ?
15:22:04 <gouthamr> in a sense, yes - i do believe a few patches will need longer than next week to get merged
15:23:13 <gouthamr> if we ramp up on reviews together, we might still be able to make it work
15:24:47 <vhari> carloss, I will add 'Milestone', may help prioritize reviews during bugsquash
15:26:20 <carloss> ack vhari
15:27:13 <carloss> felipe_rodrigues: it may, but I am trully hoping that by Feb 23rd we already have everything landing
15:27:27 <felipe_rodrigues> nice, I'm a bit worried about the FF, since there are few XL patches to be merged and it would take time to review and merge on time
15:29:18 <felipe_rodrigues> ok.. let's see how the reviews go
15:29:22 <carloss> so, the more reviewers, the merrier - it would be nice to see more reviews from different affiliations in the different features we want to merge
15:29:54 <carloss> and a few review collabs would have helped speeding up the reviews, as we suggested a couple of weeks ago
15:30:07 <felipe_rodrigues> +1 for collabs
15:30:43 <ashrodri> sorry to interupt, is ethercalc giving other people issues?
15:31:03 <carloss> ashrodri: no problem
15:31:07 <carloss> yes, I am having issues as well
15:31:58 <ashrodri> weve had this happen before, and i think we used another platform as backup, cant remember what it was though. can we use that as a redundancy in case ethercalc issues persists
15:33:10 <carloss> ashrodri: yes - it was an instance that people at k8s were using, but at the end we hit some issues too
15:33:22 <carloss> but it's good to have a backup - I'll look into that
15:33:56 <carloss> and see what was the tool we used
15:34:39 <ashrodri> thanks ++
15:34:46 <carloss> thanks for suggesting ashrodri
15:34:47 <carloss> :)
15:34:50 <carloss> awesome, that's all I had for announcements
15:34:57 <carloss> is there something you would like to share with us today?
15:38:16 <carloss> okay, moving on
15:38:22 <carloss> #link https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/manila-antelope-review-focus (Review focus etherpad)
15:38:49 <carloss> so we have a couple of features that need reviews:
15:39:43 <carloss> #link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/manila/+/843832 (Update micversion to 2.75, support share transfer between project)
15:39:52 <carloss> #link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/python-manilaclient/+/854312
15:40:28 <carloss> yesterday we merged the share snapshots metadata in the client (ashrodri++)
15:41:14 <kpdev> I need reviews on following PRs
15:41:15 <kpdev> https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/manila/+/866883
15:41:20 <carloss> #link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/manila/+/868486 (Add quiesce_wait_time option to share replica promote API)
15:41:45 <carloss> #link https://review.opendev.org/q/topic:sqlalchemy-20+project:openstack/manila (Changes for sqlalchemy 2.0)
15:42:09 <carloss> > https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/manila/+/866883
15:42:09 <carloss> this too, thanks kpdev :)
15:43:32 <gouthamr> kpdev: on changes like https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/manila/+/866883 ; NetApp's CI fails
15:44:22 <gouthamr> i see you rechecking it often, as do i -- but if the CI is just being flaky, i think some NetApp folks here can move these reviews ahead by looking at the failures and telling us if they're worth stalling the patches for
15:46:50 <felipe_rodrigues> CI is a bit unstable, but we can try to run it
15:47:28 <felipe_rodrigues> About the `Add quiesce_wait_time option to share replica promote API` I couldn't find the tempest tests, is it a feature or a bug fix ?
15:47:45 <carloss> kpdev ^
15:47:56 <kpdev> bug fix, I can say
15:48:19 <kpdev> instead of global config option, its per API adjustment
15:49:52 <felipe_rodrigues> I see, is there any plan to cover with tempest tests this new API ?
15:50:30 <kpdev> yes, I will add it later. its in our internal deployment for weeks.
15:50:53 <felipe_rodrigues> nice
15:51:30 <carloss> thanks kpdev
15:51:31 <felipe_rodrigues> From my side, the review is close to finish.. thanks kpdev
15:52:27 <kpdev> thanks
15:52:45 <carloss> some other changes requiring reviews:
15:52:55 <carloss> #link https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/manila-antelope-review-focus#L108 (NetApp ONTAP - REST API transition)
15:53:20 <carloss> #link https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/manila-antelope-review-focus#L120 (NetApp driver: configure VLAN manually)
15:53:37 <carloss> those touch the netapp driver
15:53:51 <carloss> carthaca kpdev: could you please take a look if you have some time?
15:54:05 <carloss> I see some netappers reviewing the code of these changes
15:54:16 <kpdev> ok, sure
15:54:30 <carloss> and it would be nice if we could have some eyes from netappers on kpdev's changes too :)
15:54:47 <carloss> and there's also Share backups
15:54:56 <carloss> #link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/manila/+/343980
15:55:14 <felipe_rodrigues> Share backup is target for the Antelope release, right ?
15:55:23 <carloss> haixin: thank you for working on reviews with kpdev
15:55:36 <haixin> :)
15:55:40 <carloss> felipe_rodrigues: we can try, but unsure at the moment if we will make it
15:56:00 <carloss> unfortunately we did not have many reviewers looking at this change
15:56:13 <felipe_rodrigues> Collab review could speed up it maybe
15:57:00 <kpdev> haixin thanks for review, waiting for approval on https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/manila/+/859301
15:57:25 <felipe_rodrigues> btw, NetApp is open to work on a collab review for REST transition, since it is a huge patch (more than 10k lines)
16:00:10 <carloss> that would be great, if we have a session it would need to be early next week
16:00:21 * carloss checks time
16:00:45 <carloss> okay, I think we have covered the review focus thing
16:00:54 <carloss> let's continue the chatter on #openstack-manila
16:01:13 <carloss> sorry we didn't have the time to go over Bug triaging vhari :/
16:01:19 <carloss> thank you for joining today's call
16:01:22 <carloss> #endmeeting
