16:04:49 <dougwig> this was a kilo summit session, during which there was consensus to start the process of splitting advanced services, including lbaas, out of neutron, and directly into an openstack project under the networking umbrella.  ptl will remain mestery, and mark is shepherding things through the technical committee.  there are no more details than that as of yet.

16:14:43 <dougwig> for the first, if you look in the current lbaas v2 reviews, you'll see the driver doing a lot of work to maintain ACTIVE or DEFERRED status for each lbaas object.  we're talking about doing away with the drivers needing to worry about that.
16:15:13 <dougwig> for the second, oslo has a taskflow library with event callbacks, and we're considering making all driver interfaces asynchronous, and use that task flow interface.

16:23:39 <dougwig> that's a pretty broad question.  i, personally, think there will be a place for both.  i'd recommend asking that in #openstack-lbaas, probably during your very early morning, as most of the lbaas folks are not morning people (that should be their afternoon.)
