20:03:38 <openstack> The meeting name has been set to 'octavia'
20:03:40 <johnsom> Ugh, bad meeting day....
20:03:49 <johnsom> Ok, trying again.
20:03:55 <nmagnezi> hello again :-)
20:03:56 <johnsom> #topic Announcements
20:04:04 <rm_work> o/
20:04:41 <johnsom> The IRC meeting next week is canceled due to some of us being at the PTG.
20:05:03 <johnsom> clarkb Thanks BTW for catching the meeting topic issue

20:05:29 <johnsom> Above is the etherpad for topics at the PTG
20:06:03 <johnsom> Any other announcements today?
20:06:33 <johnsom> #topic Brief progress reports / bugs needing review
20:06:57 <nmagnezi> a question about the PTG, as some of us cannot attend, will there be any doc/mail/anything else to cover the discussed topics and discussion outcomes?
20:07:18 <johnsom> I have started work on the api-reference guide. You can see a preview here: http://docs-draft.openstack.org/92/433392/8/check/gate-octavia-api-ref/07fc407//api-ref/build/html/
20:07:41 <nmagnezi> thanks
20:08:00 <johnsom> nmagnezi Good question. My expectation is we should take notes in the etherpad for folks that cannot attend
20:08:05 <xgerman> +1
20:08:33 <xgerman> there is a shortage of AV equipment so… that might be the only option
20:08:35 <nmagnezi> johnsom, i will keep track on that etherpad. thank you :)
20:08:57 <rm_work> if someone feels like opening a laptop and connecting it to a google hangout or something (if the wifi is good)...
20:09:05 <rm_work> just for major stuff
20:09:30 <nmagnezi> rm_work, in which timezone are you guys going to be during the PTG?
20:09:30 <xgerman> we can give that a try…
20:09:44 <xgerman> it’s 9-5 in Atlanta
20:09:53 <johnsom> Yeah, we will see on the video. That hasn't worked well for us in the past.
20:09:53 <xgerman> I think they are Central
20:09:54 <bkero> Atlanta is GMT-5
20:10:15 <johnsom> Yeah, it's Eastern
20:10:33 <rm_work> nmagnezi: for the record, I won't be there, I am hoping for a line in as well :P
20:10:56 <nmagnezi> I'm at UTC+2 so I might be able to partially participate
20:11:30 <nmagnezi> rm_work, hah :)
20:12:08 <nmagnezi> johnsom, sorry if I interrupted, please go ahead with the meeting.
20:12:12 <johnsom> You all can still ping us on IRC too if there are topics of interest
20:12:22 <johnsom> No problem, good topic
20:12:59 <johnsom> We were on progress reports
20:13:05 <johnsom> I mentioned the api-ref
20:13:22 <johnsom> Any other progress reports to call out or items we need to look at?
20:14:02 <johnsom> #link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/octavia-ocata-merge-review-priority
20:14:15 <jniesz> johnsom, I am working on the docs for L3 active/active. Goal is to have it done end of week
20:14:23 <johnsom> We still have merge patches to review. I know the load balancer patch is being worked on now
20:14:57 <johnsom> jniesz Excellent. I started reviewing Act/Act based on this:
20:15:06 <johnsom> #link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/Active-_Active_Topology_commits
20:15:17 <johnsom> Others please also start going through those.
20:15:22 <rm_work> yeah starting to get those API patches merging should be priority #1, right?
20:15:41 <johnsom> Yes, we really need to get those in as a lot of other work is depending on them
20:16:21 <johnsom> Like I said, they are fixing some bugs in load balancer now, which I think is the top of the tree
20:17:00 <johnsom> Ok, moving on...
20:17:12 <johnsom> #topic Octavia team mascot
20:17:41 <johnsom> As we are now a top level project I got an e-mail about getting a mascot
20:17:48 <johnsom> Most of the other projects have one.
20:18:07 <johnsom> Here is the guidance I got:
20:18:16 <johnsom> The process is pretty simple—just work with your team to choose a mascot from the natural world. It can be an animal (but not an imaginary creature), fish, bird, bug, natural feature (like a waterfall … but not a named landmark like Niagara Falls) or other natural element (example: Heat chose a flame to represent them; Nova chose a supernova).
20:18:34 <johnsom> #link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/octavia-mascot
20:19:02 <johnsom> Let's use that etherpad to collect ideas
20:19:07 <xgerman> k
20:19:31 <johnsom> We don't need to rush on this.
20:20:18 <johnsom> In a future meeting we can vote and then the foundation will have some illustrators come up with some drafts
20:20:29 <perelman> join
20:20:38 <perelman> hi all
20:20:39 <johnsom> Hi perelman
20:21:07 <johnsom> Any questions about the mascot?
20:21:14 <nmagnezi> nop
20:21:27 <johnsom> You can see other project examples by searching the openstack-dev mailing list.
20:21:49 <johnsom> neutron's is here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9nzvr9nxzo7w9zw/AACdyh1flHgQWc37dwdxnfWda?dl=0

20:22:24 <nmagnezi> more examples
20:22:26 <nmagnezi> :)
20:23:07 <johnsom> nmagnezi Thanks! I forgot about that link
20:23:11 <perelman> we are now working on the distributor backend
20:23:42 <perelman> extended it to treat many corner cases and clean it
20:23:45 <johnsom> perelman Did you see my review comments: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/313006/
20:23:52 <perelman> hope soon to upload it
20:24:08 <johnsom> I am working my way down the list in the etherpad
20:24:26 <perelman> ok
20:24:34 <perelman> thank u!
20:24:59 <nmagnezi> johnsom, so re: google hangout during the PTG. if it will happen I'll do my best to join, but I cannot commit due to timezone differences. however if we can get some heads-up (via IRC or mail) about specific topics and timing, I might be able to attend more.
20:25:05 <nmagnezi> rm_work, ^^
20:25:08 <perelman> we are a bit stuck with the fresh version of backend
20:25:24 <johnsom> Also of note, there are a few new RFEs in, one about aggregated stats and one to start talking about access to the logs.
20:25:33 <johnsom> #link https://bugs.launchpad.net/octavia/+bug/1665063
20:25:33 <openstack> Launchpad bug 1665063 in octavia "Octavia does not provide Tenant/Cloud wise aggregated load balancer stats" [Wishlist,Triaged] - Assigned to Santhosh Fernandes (santhosh-fernandes)

20:25:40 <openstack> Launchpad bug 1665069 in octavia "Support of haproxy log aggregation capabilites" [Wishlist,Triaged]
20:25:43 <rm_work> yeah i've got some thoughts on logs
20:25:51 <johnsom> Please comment on those with your thoughts and input
20:26:38 <johnsom> perelman Is there something you are stuck on that we can help with?
20:27:01 <johnsom> Or are you just busy working on the backend and will come back around to answer comments?
20:27:08 <perelman> no. just added too much code. thanks
20:27:14 <johnsom> Ah, ok!
20:27:17 <perelman> yes
20:28:10 <johnsom> Any other discussion topics for today?
20:28:42 <nmagnezi> nop. just the google hangout issue if it will eventually be relevant
20:29:59 <johnsom> Yeah, I am not sure how the schedule will go. The first two days are cross-project days. I expect to be in other team meeting rooms. Them for the last few days the octavia team will be in the neutron room.
20:31:02 <rm_work> yeah no worries
20:31:07 <nmagnezi> got it. well if it will work out we'll do this. If not, no harm done.. :)
20:31:43 <johnsom> I will ping in the IRC channel if there is an opportunity to setup a hangout room.
20:31:51 <johnsom> When topics start
20:32:33 <nmagnezi> thank you for the intention :)
20:32:43 <johnsom> NP
20:33:19 <johnsom> If there isn't anything else we can wrap up the meeting and see if we can figure out why rm_work is having DB deadlock issues.
20:33:34 <xgerman> maybe he should use postgres…
20:33:41 <johnsom> Hahaha
20:34:13 <johnsom> I guess you saw that discussion about dropping postgres jobs
20:34:35 <xgerman> yep, I did…
20:34:58 <johnsom> Personally I like postgres
20:35:04 <nmagnezi> i didn't see it
20:35:11 <nmagnezi> oracle acquired that as well? :D
20:35:15 <xgerman> no
20:35:26 <nmagnezi> why is it being dropped?
20:35:38 <johnsom> There should be a chain on the openstack-dev list. Basically talking about not using it in any of the infra gates anymore
20:36:12 <clarkb> because there was little in the way of people keeping it working
20:36:17 <johnsom> I think it comes down to people fixing bugs with using postgres
20:36:20 <clarkb> so last time it broke sdague removed the main job
20:36:52 <johnsom> Yep
20:37:23 <johnsom> I kind of wish sqlalchemy was a better abstraction module, but that is yet another discussion.
20:37:36 <xgerman> we still have 23 minutes ;-)
20:37:43 <johnsom> Anyway, thanks folks!
20:37:45 <johnsom> Ha
20:37:48 <rm_work> o/
20:37:50 <nmagnezi> I'll look it up
20:37:53 <nmagnezi> bye guys
20:37:56 <nmagnezi> o/
20:37:57 <xgerman> bye
