Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.debian.org/MeetBot. 20:00:27 <openstack> Useful Commands: #action #agreed #help #info #idea #link #topic #startvote. 20:00:29 <openstack> The meeting name has been set to 'octavia' 20:00:34 <johnsom> Hi folks 20:00:42 <nmagnezi> o/ 20:01:38 <johnsom> Could be quiet today 20:01:45 <johnsom> I know a few folks are out today 20:01:57 <johnsom> #topic Announcements 20:02:06 <johnsom> TC elections are open 20:02:12 <johnsom> #link http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2018-April/129069.html 20:03:47 <johnsom> That is about the only announcement I have 20:04:15 <johnsom> Other than we got the first tempest plugin patch merged for LBs. (back to the future) 20:04:25 <johnsom> Anyone have anything I missed? 20:04:44 <nmagnezi> not that i know of 20:04:49 <johnsom> #topic Brief progress reports / bugs needing review 20:05:12 <johnsom> Ok, I have been focused on the tempest plugin patch. Glad to have that merged! 20:05:27 <johnsom> I have also been working on a few minor bug fixes and reviews. 20:05:54 <johnsom> I have some gate work to do, then back at the provider driver work to move Octavia under a new-style driver. 20:06:35 <johnsom> Any other updates? 20:06:39 <nmagnezi> we (RH) were mainly focusing on final polish to Octavia related bits in tripleO and I still struggle with Rally (Rally-openstack now) to make it work for us 20:07:07 <johnsom> Yeah, I put the rally split in the "openstack" info section 20:07:19 <nmagnezi> noticed that :) 20:07:34 <johnsom> Let me know if there is some targeted issues over there that I can help with. Second set of eyes or such. 20:07:52 <nmagnezi> thank you. 20:08:02 <nmagnezi> i sure will 20:08:25 <johnsom> Ok, if no one else has any updates to share, I will move on. 20:08:36 <johnsom> #topic Other OpenStack activities of note 20:08:44 <johnsom> Rally is splitting out OpenStack into separate repository 20:08:52 <johnsom> #link http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2018-April/129284.html 20:09:17 <johnsom> As you mentioned, Rally is making some changes. I just wanted to raise it here since I knew you were doing some Rally work. 20:09:34 <johnsom> I'm guessing you were probably already aware. 20:09:51 <nmagnezi> thanks! yes. my patch is already ported to the rally-openstack repo 20:10:07 <nmagnezi> so when I finish we are good to go 20:10:41 <johnsom> +1 20:10:51 <johnsom> WSME is looking for maintainers 20:10:57 <johnsom> #link http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2018-April/129206.html 20:11:20 <johnsom> So Octavia uses WSME in the REST API. We use both the pecan binding and the WSME types. 20:11:53 <johnsom> So they are looking for folks interested in helping to maintain the project. 20:12:29 <nmagnezi> i will take a look at it, but I don't think I'll have any cycles to get involved honestly 20:12:31 <johnsom> I was just talking with Chris Dent about helping out there 20:13:01 <johnsom> Yeah, I indicated my involvement would mostly be reviews / gate fixes and not development focused. 20:13:17 <johnsom> Anyway, if anyone here has an interest... 20:13:49 <johnsom> If wsme goes completely unsupported we will have a bunch of work to move off of it, so... 20:13:58 <johnsom> Octavia deleted status vs. 404 20:14:09 <johnsom> #link https://review.openstack.org/#/c/545493/ 20:14:19 <johnsom> opps, that is a topic 20:14:27 <johnsom> #topic Octavia deleted status vs. 404 20:14:34 <johnsom> This is still open with no reviews 20:14:57 <johnsom> This is another poke that we need to pull this band aid off sooner than later. 20:15:38 <nmagnezi> sorry about that. It's an important patch. I'll pay attention to it. 20:15:51 <johnsom> Yeah, general reminder for folks 20:16:05 <johnsom> #topic Open Discussion 20:16:18 <johnsom> That was the agenda for today. Any other topics? 20:16:23 <nmagnezi> just one question in regards to this patch 20:16:28 <johnsom> Sure 20:17:03 <nmagnezi> what did we agree one API versioning here? do we intend to bump a minor version or this is just a bugfix? 20:17:25 <nmagnezi> also.. do to think it would make sense to eventually backport this? 20:17:35 <nmagnezi> (slipped another question, i know :) ) 20:20:18 <nmagnezi> ? 20:23:58 <nmagnezi> netsplit?.. 20:24:20 <xgerman_> o/ 20:24:32 <nmagnezi> xgerman_, hi 20:24:41 <nmagnezi> xgerman_, i think johnsom might got disconnected 20:25:08 <xgerman_> :-( 20:25:36 <nmagnezi> xgerman_, I'll give it few more min before I'll trigger the bots to end the meeting 20:26:47 <xgerman_> k 20:28:05 <xgerman_> yep, johnsom cant see us 20:28:51 <nmagnezi> johnsom2, o/ 20:28:57 <nmagnezi> netsplit :< 20:29:14 <xgerman_> huray! 20:29:18 <johnsom2> Hi, jumped in the web chat. I see the netsplit now 20:29:37 <johnsom> last thing I saw was "Thoughts?" 20:29:37 <nmagnezi> yeah 20:30:14 <nmagnezi> johnsom, i asked couple of questions about the 404 vs delete change 20:30:18 <nmagnezi> I'll just paste 20:30:24 <johnsom> Ok, thanks 20:30:30 <nmagnezi> <nmagnezi> what did we agree one API versioning here? do we intend to bump a minor version or this is just a bugfix? 20:30:30 <nmagnezi> <nmagnezi> also.. do to think it would make sense to eventually backport this? 20:30:30 <nmagnezi> <nmagnezi> (slipped another question, i know :) ) 20:30:50 <johnsom> Well, it is a bug fix. It also extends current behavior. The DB cleanup job in housekeeping will make these objects return 404 depending on the timing configured in the config file. So, we are kind of accelerating that timeline or making the API behave like it was a 0 timeout. 20:30:50 <johnsom> 1:20 PM I think we should bump at least a minor number for this though, to give folks a way to identify it. 20:30:50 <johnsom> 1:20 PM I also think it does make sense to backport it. 20:30:50 <johnsom> 1:20 PM For similar reasons. It makes the behavior consistent across deployments. 20:30:50 <johnsom> 1:21 PM Thoughts? 20:31:14 <johnsom> ^^ my paste 20:31:21 <xgerman_> +1 20:31:45 <nmagnezi> thanks for pasting 20:32:12 <nmagnezi> so I still need to review this patch but yes, make sense to me 20:32:12 <nmagnezi> +1 20:32:27 <johnsom> Ok, cool. Feedback expected/welcome on the patch 20:33:12 <johnsom> Ok, any other topics today? 20:33:47 <johnsom2> o/ 20:33:52 <xgerman_> made some progres son the proxy pligin — but we have a lot of patches in n-lbaas land to review 20:34:12 <johnsom> For proxy plugin or in general? 20:34:17 <xgerman_> in general 20:34:40 <johnsom> I have started to purge some of the neutron-lbaas patches that don't make sense anymore. More to come. 20:34:48 <xgerman_> +1 20:34:52 <johnsom> Mostly working on it when I'm waiting on other things 20:34:57 <nmagnezi> +1 20:35:38 <johnsom> Also should note: https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/storyboard-issues 20:35:59 <johnsom> Nir and I crashed the storyboard meeting, but they didn't get to the agenda item today 20:36:17 <johnsom> #link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/storyboard-issues 20:36:25 <johnsom> So, maybe next week 20:36:33 <nmagnezi> yeah. we were lurking in the channel but they just spent ton of times on.. well I'm not sure what 20:36:43 <nmagnezi> hopefully next week.. 20:36:48 <johnsom> assimilation I think 20:37:31 <johnsom> Ok, if nothing else we can wrap up today's meeting. Thanks folks! 20:37:35 <nmagnezi> o/ 20:37:53 <johnsom> #endmeeting
