15:01:50 <amrith__> hi trevormc
15:02:03 <amrith__> can't see if there are any other 'regulars' here
15:02:10 <amrith__> am using the we interface to irc today
15:02:36 <amrith__> #agenda https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Meetings/TroveMeeting
15:03:25 <amrith__> anybody here for trove meeting :) ?
15:03:32 <smatzek> here
15:03:40 <trevormc> i see smatzek, kumarmn
15:03:56 <amrith__> smatzek kumarmn hello
15:03:58 <kumarmn_> Yes, I might be back as kumarmn_
15:04:05 <amrith__> kumarmn_ hello
15:04:22 <kumarmn_> hi amrith_
15:04:29 <amrith__> so let us get started
15:04:35 <trevormc> rpittau appears offline
15:04:42 <amrith__> only thing I had on the agenda is to get the reboot meeting scheduled
15:04:53 <amrith__> trevormc: what's the status of that?
15:05:07 <trevormc> Thursday 1400 UTC
15:05:09 <trevormc> #link http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2017-May/117207.html
15:05:31 <trevormc> I will have to give everyone a link 15 minutes before the meeting time
15:05:43 <trevormc> google hangouts are impromptu unless you share your calendar.
15:05:58 <trevormc> I had the hardest time trying to share an event, I just gave up lol
15:06:30 <amrith__> sorry, 1400utc you say?
15:06:41 <trevormc> yes,
15:06:46 <trevormc> for thursday
15:06:52 <amrith__> ok, what time zone is the doodle in?
15:07:01 <smatzek> 8 AM US CT
15:07:26 <trevormc> it should be my time
15:07:28 <trevormc> so CT
15:07:43 <trevormc> I believe 1400 UTC is 9 AM CT
15:08:00 <amrith__> ok, would someone please disambiguate this ...
15:08:17 <amrith__> it should now be 10am eastern time (if it is 1400utc)
15:08:26 <amrith__> which would make it 9am CT
15:08:47 <trevormc> according to https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/ it says CDT is 9am
15:08:48 <smatzek> yeah, 9AM CDT, which we're in. the first converter I used was on CST
15:09:15 <trevormc> sorry about that, I'm a new doodle poll user obviously. There wasn
15:09:15 <amrith__> and with that smatzek decided to leave ...
15:09:30 <amrith__> OK, thursdaymorning at 10am ...
15:09:32 <trevormc> a clear step for adding a timezone
15:09:53 <amrith__> well, either adding it or letting people know what it was. Anyway, we have that taken care of now
15:10:01 <amrith__> trevormc: are you setting the agenda?
15:10:21 <trevormc> I was hoping we could use some of the time here to do that.
15:10:21 <trevormc> I have a list of items
15:10:24 <amrith__> will you be publishing it someplace (like in the wiki page for the meeting agenda)
15:10:43 <trevormc> #link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/trove-reboot
15:11:06 <trevormc> I can publish this on the wiki.
15:11:11 <trevormc> I believe it was already mentioned in the ML
15:11:45 <trevormc> yes it was, it looks like my awesome email changed the link urldefense links..
15:12:33 <amrith__> when are you switching to using a nice mailer like gmail :)
15:13:07 <trevormc> that's a good idea, Ill have to subscribe my gmail account.
15:13:55 <amrith__> ok, looking at your trove-reboot, it sounds like a lot of threads, not an agenda.
15:14:03 <amrith__> do you think we can discuss all that in 1 hour?
15:14:15 <amrith__> are they all the 'things' that are important in this meeting?
15:14:17 <trevormc> No we should vote on the most important ones
15:15:07 <amrith__> well, I would like to know who is volunteering to do reviews, that's (imho) issue #1
15:15:25 <amrith__> and I'd like to know who is volunteering to do the things listed there, that's issue #2
15:15:40 <amrith__> everything else is, I think, in the noise for the reboot meeting
15:15:43 <amrith__> my 2c worth
15:16:15 <trevormc> haha dont we all
15:16:51 <amrith__> well, without that, what's the point of the rest of the conversation.
15:17:19 <amrith__> we can make roadmaps of all the things we want, but I see no reviewers, and I see no volunteers who are signing up to do the things (at least, not stated in the etherpad)
15:18:05 <trevormc> Yeah we need more reviewers,
15:18:40 <smatzek> I am attempting to shift job responsibilities at work to spend time doing Trove reviews. Once I get some blocks of time one of the issues will be I'm a newbie in Trove and so my reviews won't be terribly in depth while I get over the learning curve.
15:18:48 <amrith__> I'm already working on the gate issues so I'll continue to do that.
15:19:18 <trevormc> smatzek, thats nice to hear. Is that the only roadblock you have faced or are there other issues?
15:19:36 <trevormc> Personally, I can't install trove and that makes it hard to do reviews.
15:19:53 <trevormc> I'm trying to fix the install-guide so it works for me but I can't get anything to work.
15:20:04 <smatzek> roadblocks are time, which I'm going to be working to resolve in the coming weeks and 2, not knowing Trove, though I have dug through its code a bit lately.
15:21:08 <trevormc> ok thats good to know, what do you use to install trove? openstack-ansible?
15:21:15 <smatzek> I have a lot of previous background experience in cloud-init, porting it to other platforms and have been through its code extensively, writing custom config modules, etc.
15:21:42 <smatzek> for Trove install we have the ability to deploy it using OSA. We're also considering finding some x86 systems to do straight devstack / trovestack on.
15:22:09 <trevormc> ok, can we get something in the docs for that? or at least a pointer from the trove repo?
15:22:51 <smatzek> one issue I'd like to understand the background of is what are the issues, design problems, with having/running with 2 images of the same database at different release levels.
15:23:30 <smatzek> pointers to the code that is the problem, etc. I like to learn by doing so I'd like to play around with that issue.
15:23:31 <amrith__> hi slagle
15:23:36 <amrith__> hi SlickNik
15:23:50 <amrith__> sorry slagle (fat fingered it)
15:24:00 <SlickNik> hi folks.. o/ amrith
15:24:27 <amrith__> hi SlickNik will you be around on Thursday at 7am :)
15:25:12 <SlickNik> Yeah — I'm going to try really hard to be up by then.
15:25:22 <SlickNik> For the reboot tomorrow. :)
15:25:28 <amrith__> thanks
15:25:37 <smatzek> trevormc, the best person to answer your question about Trove/OSA is kylek3h
15:26:03 <trevormc> Ok, ill ping him if i get stuck.
15:26:14 <amrith__> so, is OSA relevant to the reboot, and if not could we put it aside
15:26:28 <smatzek> aside
15:26:40 <trevormc> i think the main concern is reviews
15:26:50 <amrith__> my question remains ... do we have the people to write the code; what's the reasonable things to consider for queen
15:26:53 <amrith__> queens
15:27:26 <amrith__> and it is going to come down to who wants to do what in a hurry
15:27:36 <amrith__> personally, making ansible work is a distraction
15:28:02 <trevormc> yeah so many deployment options. Can we just focus on one?
15:28:11 <trevormc> so trovestack right?
15:28:32 <smatzek> for the trove reboot / queens work, yes, but we have other driving factors that we will be doing it either way. in fact, I believe the work is already done at ocata and master in OSA
15:28:41 <amrith__> that has to work, that's how the CI will test
15:28:49 <amrith__> not focusing on that, or breaking that, is not an option.
15:29:33 <trevormc> ok so that should be a priority.
15:29:48 <amrith__> well, it works now but there are some reviews waiting for reviewers
15:30:07 <trevormc> which ones?
15:30:21 <kylek3h> smatzek: The trove OSA work is currently only in pike. I didn't backport it to Ocata.
15:31:03 <trevormc> amrith, this one https://review.openstack.org/#/c/463405/ ?
15:31:56 <trevormc> and this one https://review.openstack.org/#/c/463738/ ?
15:32:14 <trevormc> anything else?
15:32:22 <amrith__> the first, the second is not gating
15:32:27 <amrith__> the second is devstack
15:33:27 <trevormc> ok I left my review on there but I still couldnt get it to work.
15:33:30 <amrith__> anyway, I will update the wiki you sent with an 'agenda'
15:34:25 <trevormc> i got it to install but the int-tests were showing all kinds of problems.. I guess they're unrelated
15:34:44 <amrith__> thats fine
15:34:52 <amrith__> so, anything else for this meeting re: reboot?
15:35:00 <amrith__> if not, I want to know what moving docs in tree means
15:35:29 <trevormc> there was a thread going on the ML
15:35:42 <trevormc> it isn't decided yet but there seems to be overwhelming support for moving docs intree
15:36:09 <trevormc> "Documentation publishing future"
15:36:09 <amrith__> ok, sounds good. will leave that with you as the doc liaison
15:37:08 <trevormc> http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2017-May/117162.html
15:37:56 <amrith__> anything else for this meeting ...
15:37:59 <trevormc> i didn't have anything else
15:38:40 <SlickNik> Not from me either.
15:39:36 <amrith__> going once ...
15:41:16 <amrith__> going twice
15:42:10 <amrith__> #endmeeting
