17:00:31 <hartsocks> #startmeeting VMwareAPI
17:00:32 <openstack> Meeting started Wed Jul 10 17:00:31 2013 UTC. The chair is hartsocks. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.debian.org/MeetBot.
17:00:33 <openstack> Useful Commands: #action #agreed #help #info #idea #link #topic #startvote.
17:00:36 <openstack> The meeting name has been set to 'vmwareapi'
17:00:55 <hartsocks> Greetings! Who is around to talk OpenStack + VMwareAPI?
17:02:08 * hartsocks listens to crickets
17:03:54 <hartsocks> Okay, I got a few notes from folks saying they would be late or miss the meeting this time around. The rule of the week is reviews, reviews, reviews.
17:04:50 <hartsocks> If there's seriously nobody around to discuss I'll just head over and conduct some reviews myself.
17:06:11 <hartsocks> For the record then...
17:06:20 <hartsocks> #topic blueprints
17:06:33 <hartsocks> #link https://blueprints.launchpad.net/nova/+spec/fc-support-for-vcenter-driver
17:07:01 <hartsocks> #link https://review.openstack.org/#/c/35633/ needs reviews
17:07:43 <hartsocks> #link https://blueprints.launchpad.net/nova/+spec/improve-vmware-disk-usage
17:07:48 <hartsocks> moved to havana-3
17:07:51 <danwent> sorry i'm late :)
17:07:56 <hartsocks> np
17:08:05 <hartsocks> just you and I in here right now.
17:08:19 <hartsocks> I was going to leave some links/status updates for the record then move to reviews
17:09:03 <hartsocks> #link https://blueprints.launchpad.net/nova/+spec/vmware-image-clone-strategy
17:09:12 <hartsocks> is work in progress, moved to havana-3
17:09:23 <danwent> garyk seems to be here
17:09:35 <hartsocks> @garyk yt?
17:09:46 <danwent> but not sure where HP + Canonical are
17:09:56 <danwent> mmm… may be afk
17:10:16 <hartsocks> HP's rep and Canonical's rep sent me a PM that they weren't going to make tonight's meeting.
17:10:42 <hartsocks> The big update would be we only have one BP trying to make H2 now.
17:11:20 <hartsocks> Never mind… looks like he updated it this morning...
17:11:22 <hartsocks> #link https://blueprints.launchpad.net/nova/+spec/multiple-clusters-managed-by-one-service
17:11:28 <hartsocks> Is set to Havana-3 now.
17:12:10 <hartsocks> This is up for review again.
17:12:36 <hartsocks> That leaves us with only bugs for the H-2 milestone
17:13:03 <hartsocks> #topic bugs
17:13:11 <hartsocks> More for the record than anything else...
17:13:18 <hartsocks> I see 13 open bugs.
17:13:32 <hartsocks> 5 bugs set for H2 deadline
17:14:25 <hartsocks> hmm...
17:14:30 <hartsocks> miss counted ....
17:14:32 <hartsocks> 4 bugs
17:14:47 <hartsocks> #link https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/1180897
17:14:51 <uvirtbot> Launchpad bug 1180897 in nova "nova boot fails to attach vmdk in multi-host environments" [High,In progress]
17:15:33 <hartsocks> This is related to non-DRS clusters. Perhaps we should drop it to "Low/Medium" priority and move it away from a milestone?
17:16:41 <sabari_> Even with drs clusters, does this issue happen with multiple datacenters ?
17:17:08 <hartsocks> I'll put a note to follow up on multiple datacenters.
17:17:37 <sabari_> Sure, if so it can still hold its priority is what I think
17:18:35 <hartsocks> I'll spend some time with this bug today since it's assigned to me.
17:18:46 <hartsocks> Here's another bug:
17:18:48 <hartsocks> #link https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/1190515
17:18:51 <uvirtbot> Launchpad bug 1190515 in nova "disconnected ESXi Hosts cause VMWare driver failure" [High,In progress]
17:19:05 <hartsocks> @sabari_ I think that's yours right?
17:19:19 <sabari_> I need to address some review comments and send out a new patchset
17:19:46 <sabari_> Apart from that the fix is all set
17:19:56 <hartsocks> Okay. You might hit H2 then?
17:20:25 <sabari_> I hope so. If I get enough reviews.
17:20:45 <hartsocks> I'm going to spend most of the rest of my development time this week on reviews.
17:21:29 <hartsocks> The word of the day is...
17:21:38 <hartsocks> reviews, reviews, reviews!
17:21:52 <hartsocks> 3rd open bug fro H2:
17:22:02 <hartsocks> #link https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/1189585
17:22:03 <uvirtbot> Launchpad bug 1189585 in nova "VNC default password for vmwareapi is bad" [Low,In progress]
17:22:26 <hartsocks> I think we decided this was not a bug after all right?
17:22:53 <hartsocks> The resolution was that it wasn't ESXi that didn't allow blank passwords, but the VNC client. So this shouldn't be changed.
17:23:35 <hartsocks> I'll leave a note on that bug asking about that.
17:24:03 <sabari_> For bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/1180897 , my comment was not valid. I was looking at https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/1180044
17:24:04 <uvirtbot> Launchpad bug 1180897 in nova "nova boot fails to attach vmdk in multi-host environments without DRS properly enabled" [Medium,In progress]
17:24:16 <sabari_> Sorry about that
17:24:35 <hartsocks> ah.
17:25:05 <hartsocks> Just make a note in after the comment made in error, then comment in the right place.
17:25:12 <hartsocks> I think that's all you can do.
17:25:17 <hartsocks> There's no editing comments.
17:26:33 <hartsocks> Is Tracy around?
17:26:40 <hartsocks> #link https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/1180471
17:26:42 <uvirtbot> Launchpad bug 1180471 in nova "vmware: vmdk fail to attach to new VMs when using "thin" vmdk" [High,In progress]
17:27:06 <hartsocks> That's the last thing slated for Havana-2.
17:27:14 <hartsocks> (at least that I see)
17:27:52 <hartsocks> IIRC: there's progress being made. My only query was whether it will make Havana-2 or if it should be moved to Havana-3.
17:28:17 <hartsocks> Okay.
17:28:38 <hartsocks> So we've covered blueprints, all of them are now set to Havana-3 after all.
17:28:53 <hartsocks> We've covered the 4 bugs that are open and set for Havana-2
17:29:11 <hartsocks> #topic open discussion
17:29:49 <hartsocks> Anything else to discuss?
17:29:52 <hartsocks> Any pet reviews?
17:31:23 * hartsocks listens to crickets
17:31:49 <garyk> hi guys. sorry i am late
17:32:07 <hartsocks> @garyk thanks for joining. It's late there.
17:32:21 <hartsocks> We're in open discussion right now.
17:33:06 <garyk> ok. is there anything special that we should focus on that i missed?
17:33:18 <hartsocks> I have 12 open reviews that I need to get to by Friday.
17:33:37 <hartsocks> I see @garyk at the bottom of the list :-)
17:34:17 <hartsocks> #link https://review.openstack.org/#/c/36411/
17:34:31 <hartsocks> @garyk this your review?
17:34:38 <garyk> hartsocks: :). i'll take a look at the reviews later and tomorrow. i have a working setup with devstack (nice instructions). this helps validate them
17:35:02 <hartsocks> @garyk I like hearing that my instructions work.
17:35:59 <hartsocks> @garyk I added a troubleshooting section on networking. I have not had to use this extra config in my own setup but I understand if you are behind certain types of firewalls you need to follow extra networking config.
17:36:03 <hartsocks> Just FYI.
17:36:55 <hartsocks> Any other topics to discuss? Any other follow up items?
17:36:56 <garyk> ok. thanks. i'll check it out.
17:38:10 <hartsocks> Also, if you think I should look at something, or track something… http://i.imgur.com/XLINkt3.png
17:38:22 <hartsocks> add me as a reviewer. Use my username, not email.
17:38:56 <hartsocks> Okay, so the word for the next couple weeks is reviews, reviews, reviews!
17:39:12 <hartsocks> I'll go ahead and sign us off.
17:39:27 <danwent> slow week :)
17:39:34 <hartsocks> Remember: #openstack-vmware is always open for discussion.
17:39:57 <hartsocks> @danwent reminds me of week #1 :-)
