masgharJayF: ack, thanks for taking a look09:56
rpittaumasghar: sorry I haven't seen your message! idrac8 is quite old and it had the very first implementation of redfish on Dell, it's very unreliable, I don't think we can call it supported as it's discontinued  since December 2021, with software support ended in February 202409:59

cloobtech_hroy, rpittau: Please, for the initial tasks, do we need to complete all three before submitting, or can we submit each one as it’s ready?  12:15
cloobtech_My article on the Ironic project is ready, and I’m currently setting up Bifrost using the bifrost-cli.12:15
hroycloobtech_, it's up to you, you can submit them as you finish a task or submit all of them together too12:21
cloobtech_hroy: Thanks for the feedback12:25
rose_kimondo_hroy: Is the submission done on Outreachy's contribution page sufficient or do we need to also communicate via email?12:45
opendevreviewPierre Riteau proposed openstack/ironic stable/2025.1: No admin-set maintenance override on power sync  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/96385612:48
rpittaurose_kimondo_: it's fundamental that you register your contributions in the outreachy page, it's the only place we're going to check12:56
rose_kimondo_rpittau: Noted. Thank you. 12:57

TheJuliadtantsur: Am I looking at https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/963485 correctly, it was a redirect to another redirect ?13:33
TheJuliaits just one, interesting13:40
mrsmartHello rpittau, is there a deadline for the initial task please?13:49
rpittaumrsmart: the contributions deadline is November 3 as stated in the project page https://www.outreachy.org/apply/project-selection/#openstack13:52
iurygregoryTheJulia, we don't have timeslots that would be good for Australia, do you want me to book a specific one?14:06
iurygregoryI'm organizing the topics for the timeslots 14:07
TheJuliaiurygregory: it might be good to pin one in and see if we get folks from there. Happy to lead such sessions and try to capture discussion14:09
iurygregoryyeah14:10
iurygregoryStatus of Trait Based Networking doesn14:10
iurygregorydoesn't need neutron folks right?14:10
iurygregoryhttps://paste.opendev.org/show/b3GyZgkpPhRUa3GjeIY3/14:13
iurygregoryInitial schedule the topics are in order14:14
iurygregorywe still need to talk with nova/cinder since they didn't answer the email about the cross-project14:14
iurygregorydo you know anyone I can reach out on Nova and Cinder to check if the time work for them?14:17
TheJuliaiurygregory: likely doesn't, but overlap might still be good14:21
TheJuliaw/r/t cinder, I'd likely dial back the time on PReP partitions, and move the concurrent action limit brainstorming discussion up so people are not worn out14:25
TheJuliaerr14:26
TheJulianot w/r/t cinder14:26
TheJuliaLooks like nova has at least a topic regarding the vnc console stuffs14:27

TheJuliaiurygregory: have we tried asking in #openstack-cinder? Also, I'd try following up on the mailing list post one more time14:29
* iurygregory facepalm, I'm not on #openstack-cinder channel :X14:30
TheJuliaIt looks like they have a separate planning etherpad, https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/2026.1-ptg-cinder-planning14:31
iurygregorylet me shuffle things a bit here... for a second proposal14:33
iurygregoryso my idea was to have cross-project on wed.. so I was focusing on that, second proposal also takes this into consideration.. https://paste.opendev.org/show/brq6RKT7WEmMyOkiWNu9/ , I can draft a third one splitting cross-project in two days and have a more variety of topics in each day14:40
iurygregorylike tuesday was more redfish topics, wed cross-project14:41
TheJuliaiurygregory: w/r/t neutron, there is a +1 on the neutron etherpad, but no specific date/time14:59
TheJuliaI think wednesday makes sense. I guess we're sort of the first to pin down a time15:00
iurygregoryyeah,haleyb talked with me15:04
iurygregoryI've asked in the channel if they are ok with the time slot or not15:05

cloobtech_Hi everyone, 16:13
cloobtech_I’ve been trying to install Bifrost on Pop!_OS (Ubuntu-based) as part of my Outreachy task, but the installation fails when running bifrost-cli install --testenv.16:13
cloobtech_It seems the script doesn’t recognize Pop!_OS as a Debian/Ubuntu system — it stops with “Supported package manager not found.”16:13
cloobtech_Even when I manually set ID=ubuntu and ID_LIKE=debian, it later breaks due to conflicts with Pop!_OS desktop dependencies like pop-desktop and python3-repolib.16:13
cloobtech_I believe this might be a compatibility issue in the environment detection part of the installer.16:13
cloobtech_@hroy or @rpittau — could you please suggest the right medium to report or escalate this bug? Should I open a bug report on Launchpad or file it via Storyboard?16:13
opendevreviewVerification of a change to openstack/ironic stable/2025.1 failed: No admin-set maintenance override on power sync  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/ironic/+/96385616:20
DELL_@rpittau, do we have to wait for our dummy patch to be accepted or reviewed before we can record it as a contribution on the outreachy page?16:44
JayFIs there a technical reason we haven't implemented BMC-initiated Boot-from-volume for redfish? We have it in ilo/irmc seemingly. Curious if it's a missing feature (possible but nobody has done it), if there's stuff missing from the redfish standard, or what? 16:44
TheJuliaspoons, technical demand16:44
TheJuliaThere is some interest as it relates to NVMe-over-tcp16:44
Udofiah_sophia@@rpittau, do we have to wait for our dummy patch to be accepted or reviewed before we can record it as a contribution on the outreachy page16:46
JayFso the technical knobs are mostly there, it's just a matter of will to implement and hardware to test against16:49
TheJuliapretty much16:50
TheJuliaWe would likely want to sit down and implement sushy support to toggle the controllers properly and that is a PTG topic I want to discuss16:51
TheJuliaThe other aspect around iscsi is the flow is iBFT driven16:51
TheJulialinux will only load 2 iBFT entries16:51
TheJuliaNVMe-over-tcp may be different and appears to be entirely togglable function wise, the downside is you get extra interrupts triggered through the nics16:51
JayFiSCSI Boot Firmware table, got it16:52
JayFmakes sense16:52
hroyUdofiah_sophia, you can submit the link once you have created your patch16:52
