johnsomHello everyone.16:00
rcruiseHello!16:01
johnsom#topic Announcements16:01
johnsomWe had a good PTG last week. If you missed it, the etherpad is here: https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/oct2025-ptg-octavia16:01
johnsomOther than that, I don't think I have any other announcements this week. Anyone else?16:02
gthiemonge+1 great PTG16:02
gthiemongenothing here16:02
johnsom#topic Brief progress reports / bugs needing review16:03
johnsomI mostly spent time related to the PTG such as looking at other team's etherpads to see if there were any highlights or things to follow up on.16:03
johnsomOtherwise I am working on the rate limiting RFE16:04
rbachman[m]o/16:05
gthiemongestill working on Centos 10 stream support, we had some concerns because a dhcp client is not available in the amphora-haproxy namespace, so I had a discussion with some friends from Neutron and neutron always allocates ip addresses in fixed ips (unless an empty fixed_ips parameter is passed), so it looks like we don't really need a dhcp client in the amphora16:05
johnsomThat will be a nice simplification16:06
gthiemongeI'm going to update some octavia-tempest-plugin patches (reducing the duration of the tests, etc..) and I will ping you to get some reviews16:07
gthiemongeI'm verifying the status of the pep8 job...16:08
johnsomSounds good. The TC PTG session talked about the issues with supporting CentOS 10 stream and alternatives. I came away with no real decision was made.16:09
gthiemongenote that centos stream, alma and rocky are really similar, same code, same dependencies, but there's a lot of differences in DIB16:10
gthiemongeso working on c10s will help to support alma and rocky, but there's still some work to do there16:10
johnsomActually CentOS stream is very different than alma and rocky.16:10
johnsomCentOS stream will have newer/different packages16:11
gthiemongebut alma 10 and rocky 10 are based on older c10s snapshots16:11
gthiemongerhel10 too16:12
johnsomRight, but CentOS stream is a moving target.16:13
gthiemongeright16:13
johnsomIf you missed the TC session, there are some notes in their etherpad:16:14
johnsom#link https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/oct2025-ptg-os-tc16:14
johnsomAny other updates or are we ready for open discussion? 16:15
gthiemongeone thing16:15
gthiemongepep8 is still broken16:15
gthiemongewe probably want https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/octavia/+/96489216:15
gthiemongeas a temporary workaround16:15
johnsomOh, the pylint issue. I am surprised that hasn't been fixed....16:16
johnsomYeah, given the time, we should merge a temp workaround.16:16
gthiemongeI'll ensure that we remove it when pylint is fixed16:18
johnsomFor those that aren't familiar, pylint released a version that broke the "ignore" file path function, so pylint now runs on all of the tests modules when it did not before. This causes a lot of errors to be reported.16:18
johnsomIt's been three weeks with discussion on the bug (even a proposed fix), but no traction from the pylint team.16:19
gthiemongehttps://github.com/pylint-dev/pylint/issues/1066916:19
johnsomThis blocks us from merging anything16:19
johnsomAnyway, on to open discussion:16:20
johnsom#topic Open Discussion16:20
johnsomAny other topics this week?16:20
gthiemongenothing from me16:20
johnsomAlright then, thank you for joining and see you next week!16:21
