skraynev_@gthiemonge hi, thank you for feedback for https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/octavia/+/976100. could you please take a look my answer. I need to understand which design is expected and could it be combined with my initial approach or should be supported only via API.10:16

johnsom#startmeeting Octavia16:00
opendevmeetMeeting started Wed Feb 11 16:00:00 2026 UTC and is due to finish in 60 minutes.  The chair is johnsom. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.debian.org/MeetBot.16:00
opendevmeetUseful Commands: #action #agreed #help #info #idea #link #topic #startvote.16:00
opendevmeetThe meeting name has been set to 'octavia'16:00
johnsomHi everyone!16:00
gthiemongeo/16:00
rcruise-redhato/16:01
johnsom#topic Announcements16:01
johnsomLots of topics today16:01
johnsomFirst up, next week is the final release for octavia-lib for Gazpacho16:01
johnsomI will take a quick look after the meeting, but I don't think we have anything pending there.16:02
johnsomThe following week is feature freeze for everything.16:02
johnsomThis means no more feature patches merge and we shift focus to bug fixes, docs updates, and test patches.16:03
johnsomAny questions about the release timing?16:03
johnsom#link https://releases.openstack.org/gazpacho/schedule.html16:03
gthiemongelgtm16:03
johnsomOk. Also note, there was a setuptools release that broke a number of things across OpenStack.16:04
gthiemongercruise updated his neutronclient removal from octaviaclient I think it can make it16:04
gthiemongeit looks like they fixed devstack on stable branches16:04
johnsomThe master and stable branches should be functional again. Last I checked they were working on fixing grenade jobs in devstack.16:05
gthiemongehttps://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/octavia/+/97611716:05
rcruise-redhatgthiemonge: Beat me to it :-)16:05
gthiemongethis patch will be needed for octavia16:05
johnsomOk, great, I will keep an eye on that today. Hopefully we are back functioning again.16:06
rcruise-redhatIt should be good once the Grenade job is fixed, everything else was passing16:06
gthiemongeright16:06
johnsomI will also note, as it is end of cycle we tend to see job slow down due to IO issues, so watch for timeouts and be ready to recheck as needed.16:07
gthiemongeack16:07
johnsomNext up, it is PTL and TC election time again nominations close Feb 18, 2026 23:45 UTC16:08
rcruise-redhatright16:08
johnsomIf you have any questions about the PTL role, please feel free to reach out, I am happy to discuss it.16:08
johnsomI will not be running again.16:08
gthiemongeok16:09
johnsomOn that note, this is my last week working on OpenStack. I will be resigning my PTL and core roles.16:10
gthiemonge:'(16:10
rcruise-redhatjohnsom: Sorry to hear that, you've been a great help16:10
johnsomgthiemonge If it's ok with you I would like to recommend to the TC that you take over. You have experience in the PTL role.16:11
raineszmjohnsom: agreed. I haven't been here long but you've been very kind and helpful.16:11
gthiemongeyeah thanks for your work johnsom, you'll be missed16:11
gthiemongejohnsom: ack, i'm fine with it16:11
johnsomIt's sad to step away after 10 years working on OpenStack and helping to start the Octavia project.16:11
gthiemongewe will train a bot with your IRC messages and commits16:12
johnsomI think that is the bulk of the announcements I have. Any other announcements this week?16:13
gthiemongenothing for me16:13
johnsomHahaha, I would be surprised if they aren't already to be honest.16:13
rcruise-redhatIn some good news, the pipeline passed on https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/octavia/+/97611716:14
rcruise-redhatSo the CI fixes seem to be working16:14
johnsomWhoot! awesome16:14
raineszm rcruise-redhat: \o/16:14
johnsom#topic Brief progress reports / bugs needing review16:14
johnsomI have wrapped up my assistance with Designate (found a nasty bug in oslo_service) and have pivoted back to working on Octavia.16:15
gthiemongeI've been working mostly on downstream tasks, upstream I've made a couple of reviews16:15
johnsomCurrently I am reviewing the VRRP security group patch. This is a touchy part of code we need to be careful with.16:16
rcruise-redhatI've been working on the Neutron client removal (still). I think it's good to go this time once the CI is fixed16:16
rcruise-redhathttps://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/python-octaviaclient/+/97430416:16
rcruise-redhatI've also got 3 very simple CRs if anyone has time16:16
rcruise-redhathttps://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/python-octaviaclient/+/97264616:16
rcruise-redhathttps://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/octavia-lib/+/97264816:16
rcruise-redhathttps://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/octavia-tempest-plugin/+/97264416:16
gthiemongeoh the bugtracker URLs..16:16
gthiemongegood16:17
johnsomAfter that I plan to finish up the api-ref work for the rate limiting feature so that patch chain is in good shape for someone to pick it up and run with it.16:17
rcruise-redhatYeah, we should probably point people to the right place :-)16:17
raineszmIn testing the packaging of https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/octavia/+/780215 I found that it doesn't completely work as advertised. Failing drivers are skipped but removing them from the enabled provider list isn't persistent for the process. I have a followup patch that would be great to get into gazpacho.16:17
raineszm#link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/octavia/+/97649016:17
raineszmrcruise-redhat: that seems like something I can review16:18
gthiemongeraineszm: yeah I remember that we had some concerns about it, i'll take a look16:18
johnsomIt's probably a cross process issue as the API spawns workers16:18
rcruise-redhatraineszm: Thanks, that would be great16:18
raineszmIt appears to just be that trying to write to the CONF object doesn't persist16:19
gthiemongeah ok16:19
raineszmI traced the execution through a bit in the WSGI process and at some point when loading the controllers the value of CONF.enabled_provider_drivers reverts to the value in octavia.conf16:19
johnsomAlso, don't forget to test what happens when someone sends the config mutate signal. I'm pretty sure that triggers a full reload from the conf file16:23
johnsom#link https://docs.openstack.org/oslo.config/ocata/mutable.html16:23
johnsomThat is a link if you are not familiar with that capability.16:23
johnsomWe support this, but I think Octavia simply bounces the uWSGI workers (due to signal handling complications)16:24
raineszmjohnsom: Ty! I'll take a peek. That would be the simplest case since everything would be handled automatically when we reinit.16:25
johnsomSigh, google pulling up the ocata version of the doc, but hey, it's a pointer.16:26
raineszmYeah. That happens a lot. It's weirdly hard to get the current stable docs 16:27
johnsomYeah, I was working with the docs team for a bit and we struggled to solve this issue. It requires submitting maps with good links, but that is a challenge as well.16:28
johnsom#link https://docs.openstack.org/oslo.config/latest/reference/mutable.html16:28
raineszmI will say a big pet peeve is that the banner at the top goes back to the root of the docs and not the corresponding page. Maybe I should look into how to fix that.16:29
johnsomOk, any other progress updates before we move on to open discussion?16:29
johnsom#topic Open Discussion16:30
johnsomAlright, any other topics to discuss today?16:30
rcruise-redhatNone from me16:30
raineszmjohnsom: so will you not be at the next meeting then?16:31
johnsomIt is likely that I will not be at the next IRC meeting and I will not for sure be at the PTG.16:32
gthiemongenop16:32
gthiemongeI can run the next meeting16:32
raineszm:( 16:32
raineszmgthiemonge: ty16:32
rcruise-redhat:(16:32
johnsomOk, if we don't have anything else this week, I will close out the meeting and say thank you to you all for the support16:34
johnsomThank you for the work you have put into this project.16:35
gthiemongejohnsom: thank you!16:35
rcruise-redhatjohnsom: Thanks again for everything and best of luck!16:35
