tdurakovso, let's start14:03
tdurakov#topic ci14:03
*** openstack changes topic to "ci (Meeting topic: Nova Live Migration)"14:03
tdurakovhttps://review.openstack.org/#/c/379638 - it seems like the patch isn't merged yet14:04
tdurakovwhile it was resubmitted, will try to ping folks in openstack-qa after meeting14:05
tdurakovanother one: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/389546/ - chain is ready, hope nova cores will review it soon14:06
tdurakovso we will have ceph backend tested14:06
tdurakovanything on ci topic?14:07
kashyaptdurakov: Do we test post-copy in one of the experimental Gate CI jobs?14:08
tdurakovnot sure14:08
tdurakovit's worth to check imo14:08
*** irenab has quit IRC14:09

tdurakovat least ci uses xenial14:09
*** sfinucan has joined #openstack-meeting-314:09
pkoniszewskiwe don't14:09
pkoniszewskiqemu on xenial does not support post copy AFAIK14:09
kashyapHm14:10
*** Liuqing has quit IRC14:10
pkoniszewskiyeah, it is 2.5 that has only experimental support (and no support in libvirt), we need qemu 2.6 to support it and higher version of libvirt14:10
kashyappkoniszewski: I think we need to get that "Test Nova w/ libvirt / QEMU from source" thing in the Gate "soon"14:10
pkoniszewskiyeah, would be worth to have it14:11
*** Liuqing has joined #openstack-meeting-314:11
kashyapIt came up at the Summit discussion, /me tries to pull up the notes14:11
tdurakovany blockers now to test post-copy?14:13
*** Liuqing has quit IRC14:14
kashyaphttps://etherpad.openstack.org/p/ocata-qa-devstack-plugin14:14
pkoniszewskino support in gate sounds like a blocker14:15
kashyaptdurakov: Not that I know of.  I wasn't following it closely14:15
kashyappkoniszewski: Yeah, apart from what pkoniszewski says :-)14:15
*** Marcellin__ has joined #openstack-meeting-314:16
pkoniszewskianother thing is that live migration start in pre-copy mode14:16
pkoniszewskieven if post copy is allowed14:16
tdurakovI mean could we upgrade qemu during post hook14:17
pkoniszewskiwe would need to have deterministic way to slow down LM a bit so that we are sure that post-copy trigger will happen14:17
pkoniszewskihmm, this might make sense14:17
wznoinskpost_hook is after tempest14:18
wznoinsklocal.sh run by devstack may be a choice to run stuff after stacking and before tempest14:18
davidgilukpkoniszewski: set the bandwidth really low normally works or better start something busy in the guest14:19
pkoniszewskiVMs that we have in gate are very small with software virtualization14:19
tdurakoveven if we upgrade qemu after tempest14:19
tdurakovfirst run14:20
pkoniszewskisetting bandwidth to something low sounds better14:20
tdurakovpkoniszewski: let's try that way then14:21
davidgilukpkoniszewski: Although depending how you trigger postcopy (do you do it based on time or do you do it on number of iterations I can't remember)14:22
pkoniszewskibased on percentage increase14:22
davidgiluktry a low bandwidth setting, it's the best bet if you've got nothing to run in the guest14:22
pkoniszewskiif percentage increase in a subsequent iteration is less than 10% then we trigger post copy14:23
davidgilukpkoniszewski: although if desperate something like a dd bs=<large>  in the guest can get you a bit of dirtying14:23
tdurakovwho wants to try?14:24
tdurakov#action tdurakov to check possibilities for post-copy testing14:26
tdurakovabout intel nfv ci14:27
wznoinskhttp://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2016-November/106949.html14:27
wznoinskre nfv tests upstream vs. tempest plugin14:28
tdurakovwznoinsk: thanks for tread started14:28
tdurakovso we have 2 options, let's wait for feedback from qa14:28
tdurakovas for me both options will work14:28
tdurakovany thoughts on that?14:29
wznoinskI'm only wondering would some companies be not willing using 'intel' tests repo :)14:30
tdurakovwe could move them to openstack tree14:30
wznoinskmeaning: governed mainly by intel + sfinucan from RH at this moment14:30
sfinucantdurakov: They're in the OpenStack tree (big tent) alright14:31
wznoinskit's under opentsack namespace https://github.com/openstack/intel-nfv-ci-tests14:31
sfinucanwznoinsk: Maybe we could just rename to nfv-tests? GitHub lets us do that14:31
tdurakovsfinucan: ++14:31
wznoinsksfinucan, I was having similar thinking, I think what's unsure is the scope of that tho14:32
wznoinsksfinucan, I mean should be broaden what tests we'd like to see there, nfv, hw related too? (PCI, SRIOV) etc.14:32
sfinucanwznoinsk: https://help.github.com/articles/renaming-a-repository/ Can't speak for the official OpenStack Git repos though14:32
sfinucanI'd like to see the PCI tests included in there also, yes14:32
tdurakovsfinucan: what pci tests?14:33
sfinucanBasically anything that needs hardware and is NFV-related14:33
sfinucantdurakov: Any custom tests the Intel PCI CI may be running at the moment14:33
tdurakovyeah, let's rename it then, and wait for feedback from qa14:33
sfinucanI don't know how that works though. wznoinsk?14:34
wznoinsktdurakov I will find a link to these PCI tests sfinucan is talking about in a moment,14:34
sfinucan(Getting Mellanox to open source their test suit would be great too, but that's another thing)14:34
sfinucantdurakov: Sounds good14:34
wznoinskre renaming I think we should compile work items list first and then get them done14:34
tdurakovbefore renaming repo check that existing nfv job config is updated14:34
sfinucanwznoinsk: ++14:35
sfinucanno point renaming if we end up merging into the Tempest tree :)14:35
wznoinsktdurakov, here's a copy of PCI tests written and run by Intel PCI CI https://github.com/wznoinsk/hw-tests14:35

amrithinteresting15:19
GheRiverowhat can be normal for people in Europe or AMS, can be really rude on Asia... and vice versa15:19

*** openstack changes topic to "Driver support going forward (Meeting topic: networking_cisco)"16:22
sambettsBasically this topic is about the quality of networking-cisco and the drivers we support16:23
sambettswe have a large number of different drivers in the networking-cisco package, managed by different teams16:23
*** tellesnobrega has joined #openstack-meeting-316:23
sambettscurrently there is some inconsistncy with the test coverage provided for some of the drivers in the repo16:24
bobmelsambetts: indeed16:24
*** tellesnobrega has quit IRC16:24
bradjonesI can provide some more info here16:24
*** tellesnobrega has joined #openstack-meeting-316:24
sambettsand also there are some drivers that havn't got an active developer to support them16:24
bradjonesI tried to calculate the coverage for each of the different drivers results were:16:25
bradjonesSAF ~= 56%16:25
bradjonesASR1K / CSR1KV ~= 73%16:25
bradjonesCPNR ~= 53%16:25
bradjonesML2 Apic ~= 81%16:25
bradjonesML2 N1kv ~= 88%16:25
bradjonesML2 Nexus ~= 91% (WOOOO! :D)16:25
bradjonesML2 UCSM ~= 74%16:26
bradjones^ as a rough guide for the plugins currently letting us down16:26
bobmelDo we have a set bar?16:26
bradjoneswe're aiming for 80% across the project16:26
bradjoneswe need to come up with a timeline for everyone to hit that 80%16:27
bradjonesI think at the moment we should just aim to hit that by the end of this openstack release cycle16:27
bradjonesso got a few months to sort it out16:27
bradjonescaboucha: nice job with the nexus plug :)16:28
bradjones*plugin16:28
*** diablo_rojo_phon has quit IRC16:28
bobmelSome of the files makes sense to exclude from coverage calcs. I've been told there is a way to do that but I have not tested it.16:28
*** sxa123 has joined #openstack-meeting-316:28
bradjonesyeah if you can let me know what files then I can sort it out for you16:29
bobmelbradjones: Ok, I'll get back to you with some examples.16:30
*** uxdanielle has quit IRC16:30
bradjoneswe're currently @ about 62% coverage across the project, but that might be a little higher if we're currently including files which don't make sense16:30
sambettsThe problem we're going to run into is that some of the drivers listed here under 80% coverage aren't getting activly developed, and so that puts us in a difficult position if we want to push for 80% coverage across the project16:30
sambettsso we need to reach out to the teams that own the drivers, and the suggestion we have is that they either step up to the mark to increase their coverage or we move them out of networking-cisco16:31
bobmelFor the ASR1k/CSR1kv we're a bit low on some parts of the config agent code and then we have some files which do not make sense to test but which reduce overall coverage16:31
bobmelsambetts: I think that makes sense.16:33
bradjonesmy 2 cents would be let's keep networking-cisco for actively developed drivers & if we have drivers that are no longer being developed they should be moved to a staging repo or something16:33
*** rossella_s has quit IRC16:33
sambettsyup, we also want to push for CI for all in-tree drivers16:34
bobmelbradjones: Is there such a staging repo?16:34
bradjonesbobmel: not yet but we could create one if needed16:34
bobmelor where you thinking of the repos in CiscoSystems on github`16:34

bobmelGiven that this is a short release, those affected need to get going soon16:37
bobmelFor the ASR1k/CSR1kv I think it should not be difficult to meet the requirement in time.16:38
bradjonesbobmel: excellent :D16:39
sambettsyeah, we will need to have at least one release with the drivers deprecated before we can remove them from tree and when we do we will have to cut a major version number release, standard deprecation period in OS is 3 months16:39
bradjoneswe'll have to reach out to SAF folks offline16:40
bobmelbradjones: I get the feeling you interpreted my statement as if I was volunteering for the ASR1k/CSR1kv work :-)16:41
bradjonesbobmel: you mean you're not volunteering ;-)16:42
bradjoneshaha16:42
sambettsCPNR is another plugin that I'm unsure of activity, we'll need to reach out to all the teams offline to ensure everyone is aware16:42
bradjonesyup16:43
sambettsit might be worth us maintaining a list of driver contacts in the project repo README or something, just so that we know who to call if something breaks too16:44
bobmelsambetts: Good idea16:44
sambettsthird party CI is the other peice of the puzzle here too16:46
*** yamamoto has quit IRC16:46
