bauzashmmm, just got some moderator info, would people be angry against me if this time we use OpenDev Meetpad instead of Zoom for the PTG ? :)06:54
fricklerbauzas: interesting things happening behind closed doors again it seems. could you forward me that moderator mail or is there something confidential in it?06:59
bauzasfrickler: sure, no creds given06:59
fricklerfwiw I'm +2 on using meetpad. oh, wait, I only have +1 here, but anyway ;)06:59
bauzasfrickler: I guess I can fwd it to your gerrit email address ?06:59
fricklerbauzas: yes, please, tia07:00
bauzasactually the email contains the host keys for the zoom sessions but I trust you hombre :)07:00
bauzasyou're not a scammer wanting to sell pills ?07:01
fricklerwho knows. but if you don't use zoom, you won't get any ;-P07:01
bauzasI'm half-sad, half-relieved07:01
bauzassent anyway07:02
bauzastl;dr: no really juice, that's just that it seems the OIF doesn't appreciate the new Zoom policies07:02
bauzas"Due to Zoom’s more recent changes in policies we do encourage the use of  the OpenDev Meetpad instance[3] instead and will work towards updating  the bot for future vPTGs to make it the default meeting platform.  "07:03
bauzasto be fair, moving from Zoom wouldn't be a regret for me, the zoom app on Fedora was doing some weird behaviour07:03
fricklerwell I've been trying to motivate some ptls to move to meetpad over the last days, so it is nice to see that picked up by the oif finally. better late than never, as they say07:06
bauzasthere we go : https://meetpad.opendev.org/nova-caracal-ptg 09:31
bauzasI need to test how that works if I need another etherpad09:32
kashyapWhat is meetpad?09:33
kashyapAh, videoconferencing09:33
bauzasyup, an opensource alternative of Zoom09:34
kashyapIs it stable?09:38
kashyapOr is the answer, "we'll figure out"? :)09:39
bauzasI dunno, see the above discussion I had with frickler09:41
bauzasbut I hope I can trust OIF :)09:41
fricklera longer answer is "we'll figure it out and hope to be able to fix issues if they arise. we also think the social benefits will outweight the possible technical issues"10:12
kashyapWhat does it mean by "social benefits"?  I can read that phrase in a few ways.  Either way, I'm always happy w/ open source (and working) tooling! :)10:16
kashyapAt Linux Plumbers last year in Dublin, they used Jitsi ... and it was mixed results.  There was a write-up of it on LWN.net10:17
kashyap(Sorry, not Jitsi, but "BigBlueButton")10:19
sean-k-mooneykashyap: we have meetpad is an integration of etherpad with jitsi meet10:22
sean-k-mooneyit has been aviable to use to use since the first vPTG10:22
kashyapI see10:23
sean-k-mooneybauzas: no one will be angrey of we dont use zoom we talked about using meetpad for the last 2 vPTGs 10:23
gibilet's see, in the past there were random issue with jitsi (meetpad) when the number of participants increased. Like some people did not hear each other. Sometimes it is browser dependent. Also there is an android jitis app as a viable alternative if the browser based does not work well10:26
sean-k-mooneygibi: ya we also had issue with zoom in the past with the meeting canceling10:30
gibitrue10:30
sean-k-mooneyif we have issues with either i can also just use my personal paid google account to host a meeting10:31
gibiyeah, my main point is also keep an alternative ready :)10:31
sean-k-mooneythe issue we ahve hadd with google meet or jisti meet in the past was more around connecting form china10:31
sean-k-mooneyzoom was allowed for some reason.10:31
sean-k-mooneymy paid account supprot  150 participant video meetings + recording10:33
sean-k-mooneythats likely enough if we need a fallback10:33
* sean-k-mooney Business Standard mig be a little exceesive for my personal email hosting...10:35
fricklerthe usual zoom rooms are still in place if they are needed11:29
sean-k-mooneygibi: bauzas would ye mind looking at https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova/+/884439 it would be nice if we could get that merged so we can start backporting it11:59
sean-k-mooneyassuming we end up removing some of the stable branches after the ptg11:59
sean-k-mooneyi woudl like to include that in the final releases of those branches if we can12:00
gibisean-k-mooney: +A12:19
sean-k-mooneythanks :)12:20
dansmithbauzas: I much prefer zoom, fwiw13:49
bauzaswell, the ship sailed apparently13:49
dansmithah I see, ugh13:50

bauzasosc is installed14:06
sean-k-mooneythe default path on rehl does not ahve /usr/local i belvie14:06
bauzas[stack@lenovo-sr655-01 ~]$ echo $PATH14:07
bauzas/opt/stack/.local/bin:/opt/stack/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/sbin14:07
bauzasyou're correct14:07
dansmithbut has /usr/local/sbin, that's .. odd :)14:07
bauzasanyway, problem solved14:08
bauzasif I just awaited 2 mins before pinging here, I wouldn't feel stupid14:08
sean-k-mooneymeh if it saves you 2-n mins of bashing yoru head agaist it why not ask14:09
sean-k-mooneyi only know this becasue it has bit me before14:09

opendevreviewMerged openstack/nova master: Translate VF network capabilities to port binding  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova/+/88443914:36
bauzassean-k-mooney: interesting, I have your patch in my devstack but for some reason the PATH isn't good14:49
bauzasanyway14:49
bauzasoh, that's because this is just in the scropt14:50
bauzasanyway, all good14:50
sean-k-mooneyya if you sourced local.sh it would proably end up in your shell14:56
sean-k-mooneybut if you just run it it wont14:56
sean-k-mooney*stack.sh not local.sh14:57
bauzasI just added it in /etc/env14:57
opendevreviewAlexey Stupnikov proposed openstack/nova stable/2023.1: Translate VF network capabilities to port binding  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova/+/89894514:59
sean-k-mooneyi have this in my .bashrc14:59
sean-k-mooneyif [[ ! "${PATH}" =~ "/usr/sbin:"  ]]; then14:59
sean-k-mooney    export PATH="/usr/sbin:$PATH"14:59
sean-k-mooneyfi14:59
sean-k-mooneyif [[ ! "${PATH}" =~ "$HOME/.local/bin"  ]]; then14:59
sean-k-mooney    export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"14:59
sean-k-mooneyfi14:59
sean-k-mooneyactuly that is not fixing that specifically  but that the pattern in normaly follow14:59
bauzasI guess my devstack shell was just in transient state, because when I sshed it with another window, I got the PATH right15:01
dougszuAny hints on debugging libvirt /qemu live migrate failures? I have one where even with debug logs, there is no obvious failure. 15:57
